Forums - Gaming Discussion - China vs The US: Xbox 1

They keyword here is "If".

"If China is the new hotspot for the Xbox One, do you think it will become bigger than Xbox in the US?"

"If" indicates a possibility. As I never saw the Xbox brand doing decent numbers in the easternmost side of the planet then I can't possibly think that this is a serious possibility. Therefore, nope, this will never happen.

Doubtful, China doesn't have the established console presence of the USA.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

The majority of Xbox's presence in the US was over the 360 generation, built of off the 25 million OG Xbox and the lack of competition for a year.

I believe XB1 is releasing in China this year and PS4 is next year possibly, that coupled with the Chinese Gray market building up a similar base as the OG Xbox. Thus providing a more or less similar scenario in China now, as the 360 had in the beginning of the year.

If China lifts its provisionary ban, then XB1 could easily excell.

It's not just Xbox presence. It's console presence. America had console presence from both Sony and Nintendo, and a bit of presence from Microsoft by the time the 360 came out. China has absolutely 0 console presence, past imports.

And it is very doubtful China lifts the provisionary ban, at least not anytime soon.

If MS can make Perfect World a Xbox exclusive, I think we might put that on the table.

Keep in mind 360 was just one generation.

I mean just like the 360 in the US, the XB1 is gonna have an uncontested streak for a while.

And frankly, I think that at best, XB1 will tie in the US with the PS4, cause that region is not only not brand loyal at all, but strongly favors the leading platform.

Not to mention, Xbox's PC relationship, and if its uncontested in China, then its PC vs XB1 and the XB1 has the price power advantage, at least to China's growing middle class.

In other words, what I'm saying is China is the new America for Xbox Globally in the US.

did vgchartz hand out crazy pills today? some very bizarre and absurd predictions.

"According to CNN's online global wage calculator, which uses data from the International Labor Organization, the average annual salary of a worker in China's private sector was 28,752 yuan (about $4,755) in 2012, or 38% of the global average."

most of china can't afford a console, especially one priced at $600, 12.6% of their annual salary. they will be lucky to sell this 5m period, let alone talking about additional shipments.

An American console cannot do well in china...china and Chinese sabottages usa products, windows 8,ipads iphones macs have been banned and china  blocked google many times. Eventually, xbone could have the same fate, china and usa have a feud!...! also Chinese are pc gamers , the majority cant afford a console or they prefer their local and cheap products, this could be bad also for sony:P

Lets see...on one hand, you have a virtually untapped market, so there MUST be some sales potential, right? But on the other hand, you have a gaming society that is used to PCs, and those that REALLY want a console are going to buy a non-censored, region free version from the black market...and THOSE consoles are already available. MS will be LUCKY to sell 10-20,000 units this year in China...or probably less than a single week's worth of sales in NA. Don't get your hopes up that China will "save" the Xbox, guys, it's not gonna happen.

I that happens though, the physical game sales will be low because no one wants any Xbox One games in China.
