Can someone please explain to me why Destiny is viewed as the Second Coming? To me it looks like Halo and CoD took turns gang raping WoW.

What's the big deal? And I'm dead serious, I missed the beta because of personal problems. I'd really like to know why I should buy this game.

First of all it is not viewed as the second coming. That is hyperbole by people who wish to hype up their own opinions.

Second of all lots of people like Halo and CoD and like elements of WoW. Having all those things in a single package is just what they want. So of course they would be having a joygasm.

Third, you should probably _not_ buy this game. It's pretty clear you don't understand it and don't want the things it offers. Move on.

It is viewed as such. Many claim it will beat CoD which is one of the biggest selling console franchises of all time.

I know lol. Anyone saying that is massivley delusional. It took CoD to many years to get to where it is now.

watching the simpsons marathon its on about every commercial break. other than that i am ready to play it, but i dont have sky high expectations either. I think it will be alot shorter than peeps think. The question is, can bungie keep pushing out content to keep people interested or will this be like titanfall and be dead in a month or 2 after launch.

The beta was a lot of fun for me. The map was in no way limited and had some surprises so currently I am not scared of too less content. But overall it plays a lot like Halo and I think it's a good opportunity for Halo downplayers to feel why Halo is such a big game for Xbox.

It doesn't play like halo tho it plays much better than Halo . It's definitely a spiritual successor and playing it then playing halo 4 shows just how lacking Halo has become. Bungie has learned from their past games and refined everything. Its like drinking a coke in a chilled bottle compared to drinking a syrupy fountain version from a restaurant with too much melted ice.

As a long time Halo player I have to disagree, the game felt really similar to Halo (not exactly the same, but similar) and if you played Halo you would say the same thing.

Same here, too many hours spent in Halo to not know the feel of Halo in a Bungie game.

All the big games are 'over hyped', but that doesn't mean they won't be good. I'm sure many will enjoy playing them.

Hmm, pie.

Believe it or not but my guess is that even people who bought Titanfall have fun with the game.

Well reception for the beta has been overwhelmingly positive.

It cant make everyone happy of course. But it would seem that the hype is justified

Actually, I think the beta lowered expections of the final product. They hype basically died out and opinions were mixed. I feel the most valid complaints are unbalanced PvP and content is looking slim.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to it simply because I'm in the mood for something that feels like Halo and Borderlands.

I dont think its very different from Borderlands, but big FPS releases always seem to be hyped like the second coming. I really dont understand why because i ignore them for the most part. The more hyped a game is, its usually to hide faults. We have recent examples of Titanfall and Watch dogs, but the masses don't learn.

Many people who are hyped about this game has not realized that Destiny is a multiplayer online shooter. They think it is a "normal" shooter or even an Action-Adventure.

Well... based on the beta people can treat this like a "normal" shooter.

The RPG elements and online features aren't very deep.

the hype made me expect too much. Played the beta and cancelled my pre-order. I am going to wait a few months or so until the price drops.

It's because next gen consoles have no games, and for one good game their going to have people needs to hype it a lot ;p
