You obviously can have the NWU as a primary console, if you have a PC.

I'm pretty sure that aside from Atlus, Capcom and Square Enix titles, the 3DS largely overlaps with the NWU. Wait...

Well yeah, it has the same IPs. Mario Kart, 3D Mario, 2D Mario, Super Smash (same game, even, or thereabouts), Zelda, Yoshi, Kirby and more. Moreover, it actually has 3rd party support (many 3rd party games that are exclusive even). So yeah, if I wanted Nintendo IP I would probably get 3DS over WiiU.

Aye. I'm getting the Wii U simply because of Splatoon and Xenoblade (and the 3DS has an awful screen, too.)

The games I want somehow keep releasing on the losing platforms...(Vita, Wii U.)

Does it really make sense to invest on a second console that gives you the same kind of experience you already have? Those needs are already satisfied. It makes more sense to invest on something different.

Not if those are your tastes and you maybe don't like the games Nintendo make for the most part.

That is no reason. You can easily concentrate your online gaming on one console and have the other for the offline exclusives.

Gamers that arw interested on more than one genre? Preposterous!

 

And if you are, you can definitely get your genre fix with only one of those.

Nintendo really is the only console maker with original games to it. Not saying that PS/XB don't have original games but all of those games are practically found on the other, but Wii U has games you can't find anywhere else

So in general the reasons given are that the Wii U offers very different games than the X1/PS4, which is a reason I can agree with, if you have such a broad gaming taste then the Wii U makes probably more sense together with a PS4/X1 than a X1/PS4.

What I don't agree with is the reasoning that 95% of the PS4/X1 library are the same, that is entirely irrelevant. When you already own one of the systems you'll more than likely only be looking at the games you can't get on your console when considering a second and the fact that the Wii U doesn't get the third party multiplats, does not mean that it will end up (which is why I said in 4-5 years or so) with more games that you won't be able to get on the PS4/X1, it just means that it will end up with less games overall.

Why......why would it make more sense in the future and less sense now?

WiiU already has a good library of games, where PS4 and XB1 are still building one. Buying a WiiU as either a primary/secondary console now makes the most sense because you actually have something to play while you wait for PS4/XB1 to get some games.

In the long term, as a secondary console WiiU will probably still be the better choice since almost all of the highly rated games will be exclusive, but right now makes the most sense.

e.g. The first worthwhile game to own a PS4/XB1 for (which isn't available on PS3/360) is probably Batman Arkham Knight, or maybe The Order:1886. These games aren't even out yet. Meanwhile on WiiU there are already half a dozen 9/10 games of all genres (Racing - Mario Kart, Platformer - DKC & Mario, Action/Miscellaneous - Pikmin 3/W101/Hyrule Warriors/Bayonetta 2, etc)
