Forums - Sales Discussion - November Update!!!! Under 3m - Predict: Xbox One will sell more in the US than WiiU will Worldwide

Honestly if MS had started at $399.99 without Kinect bundled they probably would've surpassed Nintendo's WW total or be very close by now.

$499.99 is simply too expensive for a game console and it's hard to gain momentum after a slow period.

Honestly if Nintendo had started at $199.99/$249.99 without the Gamepad bundled they probably be much further away from X1 total sales. We all can do this :)

Except Nintendo has shown no inclination of dropping the GamePad whereas MS did eventually acknowledge Kinect being mandatory was a mistake.

Also $499.99 is a much more prohibitive price point than $299/$349 is. No console has ever sold well in gaming history at that price point.

Yep, it's a no brainer.

And^ Im just pointing out that it would of been in a much better position. Its not Nintendo's fault that MS thought Bundling Kinect 100% was a good idea (and visa versa with the gamepad).

You gave a scenario and i gave a scenario as well. Both of which are "IF" This happened which it didn't unfortunately. I agree though that those prices are very high and obviously affected X1 overall, but personally to me it didn't look like it made all the difference in a way MS wanted it too.

The bottom line really is do you think MS can sell 19+ million X1's in North America?

If the answer is yes, then they have a fairly good chance at topping Nintendo's WW total because the Wii U right now is trending 40% below the GameCube which only finished a 22 million.

If you answer to that is no, then it's possible Wii U will sell more WW.

We know MS sold about 16 million XBox's in North America (2001-2005 only) and 40+ million XBox 360's in North America.

I think what Soundwave is saying is that MS shot themselves in the foot for no reason, as it was mere months before the price was cut. With WiiU it's all very well saying "If it was $199" but it isn't two years on.

I mean, even if WiiU launched at $199 sales wouldn't be drastically different, it's not the price that is the issue, people just don't want it. If XB1 didn't have the issues it had (which they've now cleared up) from the start, it would be an incredibly different landscape.

But this really is a pointless convo because things are as they stand

(By that I mean XB1 primed and ready to overtake WiiU :P)

Exactly my point, people here that disagree think XB1 is going to sell on par with the original XBOX in the US. It's already 20% there in 9 months. By the end of this year it'll be 35%.

Oh well :0 Opinions are opinions. Though i cant but say i agree with the thread op :-/ (unfortunately!!!!!)

Oh, I should add. At the current rate, we will have WiiU at 7.3m end of September (Q3) This means Nintendo need to ship at least 620k this Q JUST to reach 7.3m. At the current rate (60k a week) it should have at least 400k in the channel.

Basically Nintendo needs to ship 1m+ for VGC figures to be correct.

It shipped 510k last Q with 4/5 weeks of Mario Kart. (So about 8/9 weeks of shipping consoles)

try again. at the current rate, it will have 7.1m by the START of september. depending on what you consider end of september (week ending sep 27 or oct 4th), it will be between 7.4 - 7.6.
