Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who else is this anal about their controllers?

I'm going into confession mode here, mostly because I have been allowing my systems to be played by the public and others moreso than ever before... sooo, here's the thing...  I clean my controllers on a weekly basis, and also clean them anytime after someone else has used them.

I have NO idea why I feel the compulsion to do so, but I wipe down the Gamepad and clean the screen regularly.  I even waxed the screen protector to ensure people's spit comes off really easily... I also wipe them down with a dry terry towel I have sitting nearby everytime after *I* use it.

That Xbox One controller?  Oh yea, you see that little "edge" that separates the smooth center of the analog stick and the grip texture around the edge?  It collects dead skin over time (even my friend noticed this when I pointed it out, and was like "ooohhhhh..."), so on a weekly basis, I get a toothbrush, lightly get a small amount of Orange multipurpose cleaner on the bristle tips, and brush out the dead skin.

Lastly, I put a VERY tiny amount of general purpose household lubricating oil around the column of every analog stick, so that when it rubs around the cutout on the controllers, it doesn't start to wear in a "track" from it.

Now, I'm PRETTY sure I'm the only one ever to be this anal about keeping my controllers clean and in tip-top condition, but like the title says... *IS* there anyone else?

I only clean mine after visits from strangers or distant family. I'm much more anal about it when its little kids playing cause they are dirty little people.

They usually go uncleaned for months otherwise.

There could be 3cm of dust on my controller, i wouldn't clean it.

I'm the same way lol. I wipe my controllers down weekly. I also use a safety pin to scrape out the gunk between the cracks where the controller halves connect.

ow no... I like it dirty.. I don't care if it isn't clean...

Meh... I rarely even bother with cleaning my controllers! Am I a bad gamer for acting like that?

I clean them if they get dirty, so not regularly. Generally just me using it anyways. My hands are clean though so no grease or dirt to collect on them rapidly.

I have never cleaned a controller. Ever. I did have one of my PS3 controllers go bad (super sticky buttons). I took it apart, and was never able to get it to work properly, so it went in the trash can. Another one of my controllers is slow to respond, and I've never figured out why, but my blue controller has been flawless for 3 years now.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Mine don't get dirty.

I modified a GameCube controller to give it proper face buttons, although I wasn't sure what to do with the crappy L&R buttons - I wanted to get rid of the annoying plasticy and springy noises and squishy unresponsive feeling.
