They are probably doing this for two things:
1. People will definately download it leading to higher sales of the figures needed to play the game.
2. It will lead to an increased userbase for the next game leading to higher sales.

Also its pretty much a free upgrade to all pervious Wii users, since all the figures will still work.
Disney infinity doesn't even seem to be on european eshops at all.
I might buy Fire Emblem though!
If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)
is possible to play without any figure?
not even a little part of the game?
Wow that's surprising. Do retailers sell just the portal and figures?
I already bought the retail version a while back. And my wife bought it for the PS3. So we can swap out figures and play together in each other's games. It's pretty fun.
Without the portal, this game is useless. But I guess they're banking on people buying the next one with the portal, which would then work with the first game.
Grr god damn it. Would totally have downloaded it if PAL was included. My sis has most of the figures and playsets already that I couldve borrowed
I'm not interested in Disney Infinity, but that's a cool move.
They want their Wii customers to upgrade to Wii U because the new game won't be on Wii. The portal is compatible.
This will surely lead to increased sales compared to the first DI on Wii U, but the critics will reduce this to: "look, Wii U owners only want kids games"...
Oh, and two Ubisoft and Activision franchises that didn't have cut features are still coming to Wii U. What a coincidence...
