Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If you want quality mature games on Wii U, please don't support a gimped port of Watch Dogs. There's a better solution.

I'm amazed anyone would be interested in the crap Ubisoft's peddling to Wii U owners over a sequel the best action game from the last generation (which also has the best action game of the last generation packed in for free), but okay, sure. That's on them, I won't judge.

I'm just giving a suggestion to those who, like me, don't want to deal with gimped ports of multiplat titles or no mature titles at all on the platform.

I am taking a different approach, I am not buying any more Nintendo games, and Watch_dogs will be my last game for the system, then I will sell my Wii U and buy something that offers me variety, still not decided which one maybe a PS4, or a Xbox One. I am not delussional, if I want good Mature games, I need a different system, not a Wii U.

If we support Bayo 2 we might get a 3rd and if Devil's Third does well we could get a trilogy. But if we support Watch Dogs, then what? Ubi is already convinced we don't buy mature games.

Nintendo will love this idea. Soon every dev will come to them and ask them to pay their game so that they can release it on Wii U.

Makes me wonder what made you choose the Wii U over apparently the other systems.

I always buy systems on the merit of their exclusive games. Multiplats are never the driving force to buy a system for me, but they're always nice to have if they're interesting games. Though I generally get two systems each generation so I can play most of the exclusives I want to play, and then sprinkle some multiplats on top if I have room for them.

Sunset Overdrive would flop on the Wii U too IMO.

Wii U is a tough nut to crack, even things like Donkey Kong Country are unlikely to hit 1 million sold WW.

I think Sunset Overdrive would do very well on the Wii U. 2-3m lifetime. A game like that would actually get none Nintendo fans to buy the console, and since the Wii U just doesn't get games like that, it would have the added bonus of being overhyped, which it isn't on the XBO.

DKC had no chance on the Wii U. It would have done two times better on the 3DS. A 3D Donkey Kong platformer would have sold way better as well.

Sunset Overdrive would flop, unless it was rebranded as Mario Sunset Paintball (that would be actually kinda neat, lol).

I'm not even sure if Splatoon will sell all that great on the Wii U to be honest.

I think the only games on Wii U that are reaching 2+ million WW+ on Wii U will be NSMBU, Nintendo Land (obviously because of bundling) Mario 3D World, Zelda U, Smash, MK8, and uh ... the list gets pretty thin after that. Maaaaaaybe Mario Maker?

Look, Bayonetta looks awesome to me and I have little interest in WG, but I can't speak for everyone. I'm sure for a lot of people it's the other way around. And I don't see any of them buying a game they're not interested in and skipping one that seems appealing to them, bad port or not.

I think the point of this thread wasn't to tell people who want Watch Dogs on their Wii U to not buy it, but rather to tell Wii U owners that otherwise wouldn't buy Watch Dogs on the Wii U but are thinking of it anyway just to try to persuade Ubisoft to keep supporting with mature games that they shouldn't buy a game for that reason. Quite frankly, I doubt a thread like this would convince anyone who wanted Watch Dogs Wii U but wasn't interested in Bayonetta to change their mind (this thread gives no such reasons to do so), but also quite frankly, I don't think there are many people who want Watch Dogs Wii U. I used to want it for Wii U, and indeed there used to be quite a lot of Wii U owners on this site who were excited for it (it's a new IP and thus is more interesting than jumping into a series in the third installment like Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed). Now, however, my interest has dwindled, as hearing the reviews for it and hearing that there's nothing unique about the Wii U version's controls that takes advantage of the gamepad has made me think twice about it. I'll probably get it for another system when I can afford one, if I'm still interested at all by then. I don't think I'm alone in this, as talk from people excited about the Wii U version has waned considerably from what it was.

I'll edit the OP so I make that clear.

Yup, fair enough. That actually makes perfect sense.

Nintendo is probably just going to send this out to die like they did with W101.

"As a sequel to the best action game of the last generation"

Says who, exactly? By comparison's sake, God of War III had a higher metacritic (take it as you will) and more sales, despite being exclusive.

OT: This whole thread is incredibly biased (as are most things but OP didn't even try) We have no idea in what state WD will come in and both games are for two different types of gamers, with "mature" gaming being the middle ground. How about mature gamers just buy both?

EDIT: If you aren't trying to convince us to buy one of the other, why use words like "gimped" and put Bayo 2 on a higher pedestial?

"Trick shot? The trick is NOT to get shot." - Lucian

I think the ship for mature games on the Wii U has sailed, Nintendo will release Bayonetta, Xenoblade and Devil's Third to mediocre or poor success imo and then go back to their usual games.

If Nintendo wants a good stream of mature games on their system then there is simply no way around working with third parties to get all the multiplats, I mean I don't know if Nintendo even has a department for third party and developer relations but if they do then that department is failing with flying colors.
