IGDA poll finds Steam firm tops list of desirable places to work, beating out "my own company"

Game developers want to work for Valve more than any other outfit, including their own, according to the International Game Developers Association's annual Developer Satisfaction Survey.

The group today released results from a poll of more than 2,200 developers earlier this year that asked for their most desired publisher or developer to work for. The full list follows below:

  1. Valve
  2. My own company
  3. Activision Blizzard
  4. BioWare
  5. Ubisoft
  6. Current employer
  7. Nintendo
  8. Naughty Dog
  9. Double Fine
  10. Bethesda Game Studios

Wouldnt doubt it considering they hardly have to make any games!

lol not true Valve have made a game I believe every year since 2004. Anyway, the company is known to be an extremely chill enviroment for developers with no formal power structure. While sometimes this might be bad for business, for Valve this is actually helpful for the company's moral. Also, I have heard several times how much of an awesome boss Gabe is.

Nintendo over Naughty Dog, and Bioware (from EA, the devil) over both.

Fight!

Where's EA, lol.

Exactly

Edit: BioWare is on the list though, so EA gets a bit of representation, I guess...

Out of that top 10, I'd wanna work for Nintendo or Naughty Dog. Ubisoft would be good too but I don't speak French and I think you'd need to if you wanna work for them.

Double Fine, really? The current most overrated small developer.

So what I'm getting from this is that most of the devs hate their current employer.
