Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I never expected to enjoy the Wii U this much

Good to hear, the Wii U is one of those consoles that a lot of people will look down upon without even trying it out unfortunately. And the thing is that once you do try it out you wonder how you managed to do without a touchscreen on your controller before now. Particularly if you have a family and your gaming is fequently interrupted by others watching the telly.

I highly recommend Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Sounds like it would be right up your alley, considering it's a gorgeous sidescrolling platformer.

It's not too pricey, either, and excellent fun.

I have the Wii game and it was fun, but I never got that far (maybe map 3). So I want to finish that before getting the next one.

I am thinking about Tekken, Deus Ex and Dark Siders II. Those seem interesting.

Deus Ex is an excellent game. Can only recommend it, doesn't matter which platform. Darksiders is also good, but you should buy Deus Ex.

10 years greatest game event!

So I have bought a 3DS and a Wii U some weeks ago. First thing I did was play some Mario Kart and of course play through the 3DS Zelda.

Then I downloaded the GC Zelda as the free game and started shopping a bit for cheap games.

Finally, I started playing them and have to say, I am very impressed with what the Wii U offers me. The graphics are very nice and at a level that I would say is fine for some more years. But what really stood out was the games in variety and style. So far I played:

  • Mario Kart 8 (very fine kart racing, better than the Wii version)
  • Zelda Wind Waker HD (Looks good for such an old game)
  • Injustice (didnt enjoy a fighting game this much since Killer Instinct, and the story mode is great)
  • Trine 2 (gorgeous visuals, this is how 2D side scrollers should look)
  • Child of Light (pure magic, fun RPG, just overall great game)
  • I still have to play Batman Arkham City

I spent less than 40 Euro on all these games (MK8 came with the system "for free" and so didi Zelda) and they have so far been a great enjoyment, all of them.

I have started to play much more again since getting the Wii U and will continue to do so. The system is really great.

Congrats on your purchase. If you can, give The Wonderful 101 a shot.

I'd recommend:

Mario Kart 8
Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Rayman Legends
Pikmin 3
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
New Super Mario Bros U
Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed
ZombiU

Thinking of getting one myself but I'm faced with the conundrum of console bundles. All the worthwhile bundle come in black and I'm partial to the white console. Never had a Wii also so 100% backlog on that font which makes it more attractive too.
