Inti Creates reportedly announced a new Nintendo 3DS collaboration project called Mighty Gunvolt, seemingly revealed in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.

The project is supposedly a collaboration title between Comcept’s Mighty No. 9, Inti Creates’ own Azure Striker Gunvolt, and… Galgun, which is a project Inti Creates were involved with.

As far as playable characters go, you’ll be able to play as Azure Striker Gunvolt protagonist Gunvolt,  Ekoro the apprentice angel from Galgun, and Mighty No. 9 hero Beck.

Game Jouhou provides us with a first look and the latest details behind the new project.

According to the report, Mighty Gunvolt will be given away for free to those who purchase Azure Striker Gunvolt from now [in Japan] until November 19, 2014, as part of an early purchase bonus.

As you can see in the above images, the three playable characters are Ekoro from Galgun, Beck from Mighty No. 9, and Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt. Inti Creates also announced that they have plans for for DLC for the game, including new bosses and stages.

The report doesn’t say whether the game is already available for those who purchased Azure Striker Gunvolt in Japan, but we’ll likely hear something about that soon. Meanwhile, North America will get Azure Striker Gunvolt on August 29, 2014 and later on for Europe.

It appears that the game is in classic Mega Man NES style, and that it's launching this Winter, and that it'll be a FREE download if you purchase Inti Creates' Azure Striker: Gunvolt before November 19th. Hopefully a similar deal pans out in the US and Europe, as Gunvolt launches on August 29th in the US, and sometime soon in Europe.

More details appeared about the game in the recently released 2nd trailer for Azure Striker: Gunvolt, right at 4:25 in the video

Although I think it's WAAAAAAAY too early for both Gunvolt AND Mighty No.9 to collaborate, seeing as Gunvolt just launched yesterday in Japan and Mighty No.9 is still a year away from release, I'm actually hyped for this XD, I want more Mega Man/Metroid style games :P

Man that Beck sprite is practically Megaman

Also, amazing that the first game Beck is playable in is not his debut game. I think the only other person that's happened to is Roy from Melee

Definitely helped the series become more known, though i doubt that's the reason for this one.

I want a trailer for this game!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I'm a sucker for this kind of 2D games, so I think it looks pretty awesome!

There's that bit at the end of Gunvolt's 2nd trailer, though that's not really a full trailer of its own :/
