Forums - Sony Discussion - Dualshock 4 Thumstick Issues

I have had my PS4 for about 8 months and put and finally the controller is showing a slight tear on one of the sticks. For those of you guys who have had this happen to you, what have you done? I want to find a reliable set of thumbsticks to replace the original but I don't know which ones to trust.

Many of my friends had issues with this. I haven't bercause from day one I started using these:

Some people have bought these: http://www.kontrolfreek.com/ but they are much more expensive and don't seem to increase in quality much.

Yea my one finally split after 5 months, i haven't looked into replacements or covers yet myself but i've heard good things about Kontrol Freeks. They're just little caps you put over the stick and apparently the give you a slight advantage in FPS's if you're into those games.

ALOT of people replace them with XB1 thumbsticks, i havent played my ps4 long enough to do so yet. they are a bit flakey though. There was a big post on neogaf about it entitled 'Something maybe wrong with the DS4 thumbsticks' only interested me because mine started flaking at that time. But it seems to work extremely well and people say that XB1 thumbsticks + DS4 = perfect.

Those KontrolFreek grips are a little pricey but it looks like they may be worth it, thanks!

Well I hope Sony fixes that design flaw. It's not acceptable for a controller thumbstick to break down that quickly. If my controller gets that sort of wear and tear within 2 years I will simply demand a replacement. Because we have the right to demand no cost replacement for faulty products.

Either that or Sony should include a set of thumbstick covers with each DS4 sold (including in the PS4 box).

apparently since feburary or march the DS4 has been made with a new batch of plastic to fix this issue, the serial gives it away but i forgot what to look for in the serial. The new ones are obviously mixed in with the old ones so its just luck of the draw now.
