Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 500GB Hard Drive Disk is enough?

Hi,

A year ago I bought a 160 GB PS3.

I signed PS+, and bought some digital games on some digital sales.

But I have much more games than I can put on my 160GB. In only 1 year!

I hate not having all my games in my HDD.

I think about 500GB on PS4.

PS4 games are bigger than PS3 games, and we have more 5, 6, 7, 8... year more of PS4 .

I really doubt 500GB is enough for the whole generation.

What do you think?

Sony have plans for a PS4 with 1 or 2 TB in a near/mid term future? worth to wait for it?

Has cloudgaming(ps Now) some influence in this? with it i wouldnt need to keep games in HDD?

500 GB definitely won't be enough, but you can always upgrade the HDD, no need to wait for Sony to release a newer/larger SKU

Nope, but just buy a 1TB 2.5" HDD for cheap. It'll cost next to nothing (exaggeration, but still pretty cheap), and then you can keep the 500GB around for media storage externally.

If you can't live without having ALL of your games on your harddrive all the time 1TB isn't enough either.

But if you don't play 10 games at a time and are able to uninstall some games it's plenty.

Last I checked, the system supports up to 1.5TB HDDs. Reasonable to assume that will improve in the future with firmware updates. In anycase, you don't have to wait on SONY. Updating to a 1.5TB HDD should be a lot.

Not a chance but bigger ones aren't very expensive and it's super easy to change them out. Seagate actually makes a 2tb external that if you remove the HDD from the casing fits perfectly in the PS4. $130 normally but you can usually find them on sale for like $99.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

It can support over 1.5TB as well. I've heard about people installing 2-3TB HDDs in their PS4, as long as it's 2.5" it doesn't make a difference. Even 6TB HDDs can be used.

I imagine upgrading to a SSD instead would result in some games and features on PS4 performing better. If the PS4 supports SSD's that is.

Nope, i only have 10GB's left on my PS4 so they definitely have to bring out a bigger size HDD in the near future. I would want something like 1.5-2TB.
