Forums - PC Discussion - Star Citizen doesn't look that great in my opinion, but It looks ambitious

Too bad the game wont be coming out until 2018 (what the devs have said).

Nope. They have said nothing of the sort

It's already partially playable and by the end of next year, there is at the very least a good chance of the beta being ready

I can believe 2016. But given that I'm already having fun with the game, I'm not too worried

It's a free to play game with microtransactions?

BOOOM! Any kind of interest just disappeared. Pity, cause it looks nice.

Nope

It's pay to play

Then free forever, with a cash purchase possible, though not necessary

Given that the development will have been funded by early backers. Further income will come from "real people" buying the game and then from expansion packs to Squadron 42 the story mode

There's an amazing amount of misinformation out there

Ok, that's better. I can't stand F2P and microtransactions.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Looks about as interesting as sandpaper. Then again this just isn't my genre so what do I know?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Considering it's from some of the Wing Commander old-timers it looks hella bland visually. And very unfocused from a technical standpoint.

They'll have to pull it much more tightly together before I'm interested.

PRE-PRE ALPHA

It will come together, they're just showing it far earlier than a game should be shown

I can see why people might like the looks of it. I was getting into the whole space thing recently and looked into some games. No Man's Sky seems great for solo exploration, Elite Dangerous for well, it's Elite and the other game that looks interesting to me is Eve Valkyrie. Star Citizen was not really on my radar even if it might be great.

Hmm, pie.

The chances of this game releasing anytime soon, or living up to its insane expectations, are very low. I hope you guys are aware of that.

They did, read it on gaf, tbh I dont think it'll be even ready by 2018. The game has 3 large components, its lik 3 games in 1 and they're not even halfway done with the 1st.

As soon as they came out of the gate talking about how they wanted to push graphics instead of talking about wanting to liberate space traders from the shackles of clunky spaceflight simulation, I was pretty sure this was going to be a dog.

Now that they've decided the game should have a crummy, bolted-on FPS, I know it will be.

Being early in development is not that great an excuse for not having a visual and technical focus. Those things don't come out of the blue by themselves later on. But I am of course hoping that you're right, and that a larger pattern will emerge.
