Forums - Sales Discussion - The best game of all time is guilty for Abismal sales in July

I am shocked! A single platform game selling for 3 days sold less than a multiplatform football franchise in 23 days.
And about just 15% less.

I would qualify that as a success rather than a failure, and the fact they overestimated it by 50k speaks more about their prediction capabilities.

You guys know that Nintendo had one release in July? It bombed so bad, nobody noticed it.

bayonetta?n People have stop talking about it so I guess it's out already right?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

So, I looked at NCAA Football. It sold some 700k in July.
Of course, it's not an exact science due to other games, but 15% drop off would put TLOUR somewhere at 550-600k.
Assuming they predicted 600k, my guess is then TLOUR at 550k.
Only in the US in 3 days.
A failure?

The best game of all time? Resident Evil 4 had nothing to do with this.

TLOU is the RE4 of the 7th Gen.

Yea it was a failure. Only 550K globally in the US?

It should have done more

So Cowen thinks that TLOUR fell short of expectations ?

Wow I didn’t know you were a time traveller. That’s pretty depressing if TLOUR is the best game that will ever be created, what’s the point of making anymore.

Exactly. Acti, EA and 2K all down over 20%, the entire industry down only 15%, and the blame falls squarely on Sony.

Sounds logical...

The best game of all time has performed amazingly, it's remaster on the ps4 has done so well. The remaster will have just as good legs as the original too.

I don't understand. Just because it was below some analyst's predictions. its a disappointment? That's dumb.
