Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Wii Fit U : Are they worth it ?

The main question is, should i get them ?

I have played DK Country returns 3D on my 3ds last year in september. It was, without a doubt, the hardest 2D platfomer I have ever played.

I did really enjoy it, but the thing is some of the reviews say it doesnt add much.

It got a 6 out of 10 from Gamespot, i know they are bunch of douche bags (some of them atleast), offense intended, but seriously a 6! Thats way too low for a game that looks this good. So maybe it is exactly the same as it CR.

I decided to skip it a while ago and since my birthday is coming up I am kind of forced to pick something :D. i decided to watch GameXplain's review and they said " Tropical Freeze is the best game on WiiU, period."

Whom should i trust !?

Now about Wii Fit U: for those who have played Wii Fit/plus please also share ur thoughts.

I have never purchased the original, but i did try it at my cousin's house. It was fun and all, but the 90$ price tag made me skip it.

But finally after seeing Wii Fit U, i got really excited, mostly cuz of the wii fit meter.

Is it worth the 75-85$ I am going to pay ?

I weigh about 215 pounds(98KG), 17 years old( almost atleast) and I am 6ft 4 . I gain weight very fast ( i gained about 10 pounds in 3 days on summer vacation, i swear)  and lose it at a moderate rate, so will this in any way help me to retain my weight after a lose several pounds ? Does it get boring very fast ? Are there a hug variety of excersies ? Are there leaderboards or something ?

I want it to be fun for atleast a coupe of month.

Sorry for all of the mistakes, cant correct will take for ever (currently on my phone).

Please reply.

Also on unrelated subject, what young adult books do u recommend ? Bought John Green's book collection a week ago and cant stop reading. Already finished Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns and almost done with The fault in our stars.

Wii Fit U - NO

Donkey Kong - YES

Simple really. Tropical freeze is a fun game. Wii Fit U (and all Wii Fit for that matter) are TERRIBLE at weight loss and working out.

I'm a pretty avid athlete and have have much experience with the Wii Fit family and can tell you that you're much better off working out on your own like normal people.

:)

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Donkey Kong is a definite yet. Wii Fit not so much if you don't play on using it as a regular workout routine

DKCTF:  I loved Returns, and was really eager to play Tropical Freeze, but it just didn't do it for me.  Soundtrack and bosses were amazing, but the levels just didn't have the creativity and diversity of the first game.

As for Wii Fit U... well that depends.  Wii Fit U is a decent basic workout.  It's good for beginners, and if you choose the more intense workouts, you can work up a decent sweat.  It's also good in its convenience.  You can burn a few calories while watching your favorite TV show.  However, it doesn't come close to being a substitute for a real gym.  It simply isn't intense enough.

To me, Wii Fit U is a great way to get a light workout in.  The scale is one of the most accurate I've used, and it keeps track of your weight, steps, and overall activity throughout the day.  Keeping track of your weight is important to dieting.   A lot of the games also happen to be pretty damn fun.  If you buy it with the right expectations, you'll probably be happy.  If you want it to be a weight loss mirracle, you'll be disappointed.

Wii Fit U: Nahh cause I think the new female trainer looks ugly

DKTF: I would say so

DKC: TF - yes

Wii Fit - no

DK:TF is a must :)

Tropical Freeze? Yes for sure. Wii Fit U is basically the same as the original Wii Fit which you can get for under 20 dollars. I got a balance board for 5 and the game 9, so yeah pretty cheap. Tropical Freeze is a unique experience though
