Forums - Gaming Discussion - Prediction: Xbox One will outsell PS4 WW by Q1 2016

I knew this would be an entertaining read once I saw the title and then read the OP.

Like clockwork, all of the "Sony can't lose" group jumped on this mostly Crazy OP and told him he was a fool for even thinking it. Others just said NO. An then the others stated that "it's impossible".

Clearly, peoples memories are short. The 360 was sitting at a similar position after 1 year on the market. Oddly, they were at the same spot 1 year later, and then again 1 year after that. Most people presumed that at that point, M$ couldn't really lose. A few short months later, a slim and a price cut had changed things. After that, it was a slow road, but the PS3 eventually caught the 360 and by most opinions has taken the lead.

So, what's my point? Point is, it's not over until it is over.

I agree, the odds are VERY small that M$ can even slow down the gap from growing let alone gain an actual console lead.

So everyone who disagreed is part of the "Sony can't lose group"? I agree it is not over until it is over BUT you can't compare the situation on the 360/PS3 to this. Sony was and probably is still MUCH bigger worldwide. That is what saved them along with the pricecut. They had Europe and Japan to fallback on and help take back some ground. MS does not have that. I don't agree with the OP because his arguments were not strong enough IMO.

thats why i said the worst playstation console managed to outsell the best ms console here in germany 2:1...

but yeah. maybe some people will disagree. and the worst ps console is the ps2 and best ms console the xbox one.

What? How does that even? What?

that was just an ironic example for different opinons...

not any serious talk from me.

Clearly, you aren't part of that group.  That group can't even concede that it isn't over yet.  Like you, I disagree with the OP.  I just don't think that Group will even entertain a rational argument if the OP had made more of one.  My point was that it doesn't matter the argument being made with a growing number of that group.  The fact that anyone would even consider the idea that Sony could lose = Fool/delusional.

It is near the end of the end....

Because the best MS console was better until like 2009, and then PS3 blown it out of the water? The worst Sony console was still pretty fucking amazing all said & done, even with the bumpy start.

Why bias? Because you still insist that the main reason is/was MS hated brand vs loved PS brand and consumers are stupid. It is not the case. PS consoles are better to many people, for various reasons, discrediting them and saying it's just cause of hate is very unfair to those consumers and people who make PlayStation.

And how can you state so decisively that a consistently better MS console wouldn't outsell an inferior PS console? Because some guys told you they would never buy an Xbox? Come on, this isn't a serious argument unless that sample was 40 million guys (there are like 80 million Germans right?)

if its not brand/company awareness

why sold the the x360 so much better in uk but still badly compared to the ps3 in mainland europe?

ofc its one of the main reasons.

what about nintendo? no love in the uk beside the wii

that all has nothing to do with loved and not loved brands and companys?

@bold I don't understand, what are you trying to prove, that it sold well or not?

I don't know how it went for UK last gen, but MS is focusing more on the anglosaxon markets, probably more marketing, better app support etc. plus UK, like US seems to prefer FPS games more than mainland Europe where on the other hand racing and action adventure games shine, 360 excelled in the former, PS3 on the latter.

Keeping all of that in mind, it once again proves that brand is a secondary thing, Xbox outsold PlayStation in US/UK, now PS4 handily outsells Xbox there. Brand preferences are important, actual better product is way more.

As for Nintendo and Wii in the UK, that's exactly what I'm saying, make a good, desirable product and it will sell no matter if your brand is strong or not. It sold amazing numbers there just like DS, even though Nintendo consoles are performing slightly worse there than in other markets on average.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Ahhhhh okay well yeah of course there are folks like that lol. Anything can of course happen but in my opinion it would be more along the lines of Sony messing up more so than MS doing something amazing. But yeah you can't argue with people who have tunnel vision because all they see is that one thing/direction/point of view. So it is just best to leave them be lol

it sold well in that market

not so well in other markets

yeah thats all true and matter, too. but as i said. brand and company "loyality" aswell.

yes the ps4 is outselling the xbox one in the uk, right now. but just by a way lower margin. not 3:1 ltd or even 4:1 ytd like here in germany.

thats because of the way better product ps4 in many consumer mind. but the xbox one is still a good enough product in many more consumers mind there like in other markets. thats a point of brand/company awareness.

why do u try to imply that doesnt matter? its a big thing in economy

if every consumer would do a non subjective purchase decision without previous experiences for the brand/company, we would have a more similar picture in every market...

As for Destiny, the fact that Bungie has more of a history with Xbox means very little. Given how vastly more popular GTA4 was on 360, many would've assumed GTA5, despite the perks/ bundles of the PS3 version, would've also done better but were proven very wrong. You have to understand that only a percentage of US consumers have loyalty to brand. Fact is, the majority go where the advertising goes. PS4, so far this gen, has proven to be the dominant system in the US because of it's superior advertising and great PR, despite the 360 dominating the US last gen. Trust me. If people see a bundle for Destiny with all the advertisement of the PS4 version being better, the vast majority will go for PS4. No doubt in my mind.

You certainly noticed that he was talking about NA (mainly USA) and not world wide.
First of all the pre-order number must be way higher on PS4 simply on the fact that there is more PS4 out there in NA... And then based on what you are saying the PS4 is going to dominated with Destiny based on their PR...

Well... Please, check the pre-order number for the USA before stating non-sense like that.

Also do you believe Sony is going millions of PS4 bundles or what?

I was expecting a toastyboy thread but fattydigdong would've been a safe bet :p
