Forums - Sales Discussion - If Everyone's Friends Have Xbox One's Who are all these people buying PS4s

Because of the negativity around XBox One reveal, launch and current sales, the XBox One purchaser is more compelled to defend their purchase online. They feel like they need justify their decision to not get a PS4.

The PS4 purchaser does not need to do this, because they are making the more popular decision.

I have 5 gaming friends. 3 of them own Xbox Ones and the other 2 plan on getting one soon. I am the only one that owns both Xbox One and PS4.

If "my friends play on xbox" their argument.  Or are they really into snap and kinect.  Because honestly I was PS3 only majority of last gen.  Had 360 early but wasn't intersted in Halo (not generally a shooter guy, well actually I'm no where near a shooter guy) so I sold it and never got it back.  What made me buy an Xbox One is TV integraion and voice control.  Because i knew i would have my PS4 in my man cave for gaming and my Xbox ONe in living room for guest and my wife (she loves voice control and tv integration).  Happy wife happy life

To be honest the ony thing they care about are the games. The dont care about the kinect, voice, tv or any of the other features.

So they must reaaaaally love HALO or are not paying attention.  HALO could come out and give Xbox one a HUGE boost game wise but other than that (or the other of microsofts big 3) I think PS4 into 2015 and beyond wildly trumps Xbox in terms of games.

I don't know a single person who owns a XOne. I know many that own PS4.

It has been a weird switch for me. I have over twice the amount of friends (locally) on the Xbox 360. Now the numbers are switching. I have 12 that are on PS4, and 5 on the Xbox One. It seems like all my Xbox One friends have owned it since launch.  The diversity between the two is also strange.

Europe and "rest of the world" it seems.

Unless the NPD leak was wrong and the PS4 is trending much higher...

Feel sorry for the people who haven't had the chance to even try the Xbox One, I know a bunch of people bash a certain console without even have played it or owned it. Sad truly. I mean at least give the console a try at a friends house or at a game store (they usually always have demo units). Tying yourself down to one console never made sense to me.

Side note: 90% of my friends have an Xbone or will be getting one in the future. Only a few have decided to go to PS4 (though that small percent happens to be a couple of good friends who I'm trying to convince to get an Xbox One)

Why do I need to own an inferior console to know that I don't like it, or the business practices or "vision" of the company behind it?  If you enjoy your XB1, great...have fun.  But I (and 10 million others) didn't like the lower specs of the XB1...or the library HALF the size of the PS4....or the UI (can NOT stand "Metro"!)...or the idea of Kinect...I also don't like the XB1 controller (360s was better IMHO).

As to "tying myself down to one console"?  Don't make me laugh.  There is not a SINGLE GAME that is Xbox exclusive that I can't live without!  The most appealing exclusive they have coming is Halo MCC...and I already own (and have played to death) Halo 1, 3, and  4 on my 360.

Not only do they not have any compelling exclusives (again, this is my personal opinion, yours may differ), but the VAST MAJORITY of games this generation will be multiplatform...and in almost every single case, those games look and play better on the PS4.

In any case, WHEN I buy a 2nd console, I am going to buy the WiiU, not the Xbox.  They have FAR more compelling exclusive games...and they offer game experiences that don't rely on having the most powerful hardware...it also has more "couch based" multiplayer games.  It, and it's library will complement my PS4 nicely.

In the end, for me, it really comes down to supporting the companies I believe do the most for their customers.  I won't be supporting MS, NOT because they have a lower powered box...but mainly because they keep trying to push it as being "the best" when it is obviously not.  It's because they don't do things "for the gamers" as they claim, but to try to pull one over on us.  It's not limited to the "Mattrick era" either.  Spencer orchestrated the moneyhatting timed exclusivity for Tomb Raider.  A move that benefits Microsoft, sure...but at the expense of the gaming community as a whole.  Bottom line...for me, there are PLENTY of reasons not to own an Xbox One...and I don't need to own one to know that it's not the right console for me!

People like me that bought a PS4 because it was discounted. My PS4 is still in its original sealed box and its the 4th week now. (lack of games T.T)

Its the first system I have not touched within the first 24h after buying it.

I've never seen an Xbox One in real life; I know many people with PS4s.

You can't be serious.

Super serious!

Same here, only know one person that has an imported one, never seen one in real life either.

Well will own PS4/WiiU and in a few weeks Xbox one and so do most of my friends... hardly ever in my life I heard a discussion about why that system is better or not we just play games.
