Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft Clarifies Reasoning For The Crew Skipping Wii U

Lazy devs do not want to learn WiiU´s console architecture. Also, they had 8 years to learn how to use the PS3, were you guys comatose all this time Ubi?

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Nintendo's lack of focus in the online gaming department, is the SOLE reason that most devs skip their console.

DLC, ADD ON CONTENT, if released on the Wii-U, it will be a total waste.

Get your act together Nintendo.

Sadly, I'm not surprised everytime a 3rd party game skips the WiiU!

I understand why they choose to skip PS3 though. They will get more than enough sales from the PS4 version. With the low sales of Xbox these days, they will need both X360/X1 skus out in the wild to see a return on this. Wii U, I don't know...it's Ubi...

Seems pretty straight forward to me, xbox one and 360 arent a million miles apart setup wise, and ps4 isnt that different from xbox one architecture anymore either.

I don't even remotely believe Ubisoft when they say that. Xbox 360 has a PowerPC CPU and a Nvidia GPU, and is CPU-heavy and GPU-light. Wii U also has a PowerPC CPU, but with an AMD GPU. Xbox One and PS4 both have AMD GPUs, but with intel type CPUs. And Wii U, XBO, and PS4 are all CPU-light and GPU-heavy.

That is, Wii U is a lot more like PS4/XBO than Xbox 360 is, and the key difference between PS4/XBO and Wii U is shared with Xbox 360.

But props to videogamer for actually questioning publishers when they make a decision like this. Shame that it took a game skipping PS3 but not 360 to do it, when there's plenty of instances where the question should be asked regarding a game skipping Wii U but the media just goes "meh, we don't care". But for once, the gaming media has actually asked a reasonable and salient question. Sadly, nobody in the gaming media is going to challenge Ubisoft's assertion.

Didn't Nintendo say porting games to the Wii U from 360 was cheap and quick?

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

And you base this claim on your extensive experience with Nintendo's online, right?

Never mind that Nintendo's online has all of the essential features (stuff like cross-game chat are secondary features at best). Never mind that DLC (also known as add-on content, not sure why you added that like it was a second type of thing) is doing fine on Wii U when it actually does get released.

Not really sure how they would not make money on a PS3 port, despite the extra cost, it has a userbase of 84 million.

This, quite literally, has absolutely nothing to do with remotely anything talked about in the post.
