because he is awesome.

i love this man for his work on hellboy alone.  he creates such great worlds, imo.

HIs IMDB further cements my point about him mostly making "popcorn flicks." He didnt create Hellboy, though he did play a part in writing both movies stories and screenplays. The world of Hellboy was created by several other people in the 10 years prior to the film.

Do you ignore all the awesome/creepy horror movies he made or contributed to on purpose ..?

Read the OP or dont post in threads. He has directed 3 horror movies total. 5 if you include Blade(Action) and Pans Labrynth(Drama). He has written two of those 5 and did screenplays for another 2. Pans Labrynth is almost 10 years old and ever since he has been making cgi filled action explosion blockbusters(again"popcorn flicks").

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I think you should be excited because he's a very talented person who is lending his talents to video games. That's why I care.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Use your brain or don't post anything.

Of all the horror movies he was involved in (because guess what, when you have the cash, you make the rules, so even if he was "only" a producer, it's not to be ignored), which one was bad ? Oh right, none.

I don't mean to be rude, but saying there is no reason to be excited just because he directed blockbusters is plain stupid. I'm not saying YOU are stupid, but your statement is.

Also, yeah Pan's Labyrinth is drama. But guess what ? Silent Hill 2 is drama too. And it's one of the best game ever made. It's the atmosphere of the movie that matters, not just it's genre (which doesn't even fit this movie well).

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Just go watch The Devil's Backbone, Pan's Labyrinth, The Orphanage, and comme back to tell me he only does "popcorn" movies again and there's no reason to be excited.

Add to it Mimick and Cronos both highly underrated movies IMO.

OP: that has to be the most generalized view on Del Toro's lifework ever. You are crying commercial, and all the "horror" element you cand find in his movies where in Blade 2 and the creature design in PL.  Its obvious that you only focused on his moneymaker movies, just to make a point, or you are making a terribly wrong, illimford point.

Either way it was a substandard try to downplay a game from which we have only seen a teaser thus far...

You clearly are not reading my original post and see what you want to, must be nice. How is it generalized? I named every horror movie he has made Chronos,Backbone,Mimic were all mentioned. Are you mad I didnt menion some bullshit short film that he did that no one has seen? Oh yeah, Mimic as cookie cutter as you can get for horror movies and is rated as such.

What matters here is not what Del Toro has been doing lately, but what he has done in the horror genre.

Just because he directed blockbusters we should be worried ? Nah. Seriously, this is dumb. He never disappointed with his horror/creepy movies, he is VERY talented. That's what's exciting about his involvement in Silent Hills.

So if the next Guerrilla Games IP is a RPG, as the rumors say, we shouldn't be excited just because they made Killzone before ? Hah.

Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy 2 and Mama were all amazing in my book. I love his esthetic.

The interview on Twitch just a little bit ago said when they getting into making this Silent Hills game, that it was going to be just scary enough that anyone could play it, but they changed their mind and are going for and I quote:

-"We want you to shit your pants. You are going to shit your pants"

In fact they even thought about having the special eddition to include a pair of pants.

If its exclusive then I guess I'll have to get a PS4 soon

Well, P.T. is already terrifying. I have a complete trust in their ability to make us shit our pants.

His imagination in character design is amazing. Watch Hellboy 2 and just the market place scene. I really wish he got to make "At the Mountain of Madness".
