Forums - Gaming Discussion - Spencer: "The battle is really September, October, November, and December."

MGS5 is coming to PC... there goes any reason to buy a PS4 for that game.

Wait, what? When was that announced?

A battle to be fought in the American market or even in the UK. Outside of that, I do not think Microsoft threatens Sony or PS4's leadership worldwide.

I don't expect Sunset Overdrive to move many units but Master Chief sure will. I could see the One outselling PS4 some of those weeks but they aren't going to do much to stall a 5 million lead in a 3 month period. If I was Sony I would counter with a LBP or Driveclub bundle, or both.

that is when the big battle is. but one battle isnt the entire war. he has a point, those months are the most important, and MS are really trying hard to win and gain momentum. we shall see what happens. this holiday will be interesting!

Their counter is Destiny bundle. It might be all they need.

It's time to accept this.

The battle is Wii U VS XO.

PS4 don't have competition...

Oh woah, nice. That's pretty big.

Spencer is amazing. He's made the One an actual game console, and his policies are great. Wish he was the head of Xbox from the start.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Holiday season is over the half of full year sales...
at least for xbox in the past

I love Spencer, he has the exact right mentality for gaming industry. It should never be about the competition loosing, but you winning.

That's BS spin right there. If you want to live and let live then winning should not be in your vocabulary at all. Competing should be all about creating a respected and valued brand that allows you to sell a lot of your product, while at the same time remaining acutely aware of what others are doing within your own market niche. End of the day wanting to outright beat the competition is counter productive because the law of diminishing returns means the cost of edging out the competition is more than the benefit. Selling enough to make a good profit and support long term viability of the brand should be the goal, not "winning".

Phil sounds all cool with thing but in the end its the same shit wrapped in prettier words. It's the way completion is perceived to have to be.

Anyway in terms of the ambition to be number 1 I think MS will need to focus on getting through this generation in reasonable shape in order to shoot for that elusive goal next gen.

Also it looks like, in the context of what he's saying, that they are only looking to win USA,  given he believes Oct-Dec could be winning months for Xb one this year. That ain't gonna happen on a globally global basis, but is a chance globally in the USA.
