as i've said before, if it runs of last gen hardware with the only difference being graphical/performance, it aint a next gen game.

At least the NEW explanation is a little better:

"The Crew is originally built for the new generation of consoles so when we made the decision to port it to the previous generation of consoles, we decided to focus solely on the platform closest to the new-gen's technical infrastructure, which is the Xbox 360. We are not currently working on a PS3 or Wii U version, we are rather focused on delivering The Crew for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Xbox360 simultaneously on November 11th."

Virtually any X1 or PS4 game could be on PS360 with graphical/performance differences.

Weird, but good for 360 owners. But I doubt it'll sell much there anyways since it looks like most of the cross-gen games this year have sold more on PS4/XBO than PS3/X360.

Yeah, that's so weird it really makes no sense. If revenue was a concern there would be a PS3 port over a Xbox 360 port.

An argument with more validity is they want a wider Xbox audience for some reason.

True, but some genres still perform pretty well on 7th gen.

Shooting fans have obviously moved to next gen. Lots of sports fans still on 7th gen, maybe even racing fans.

EA's UFC is definitely a game that should have been cross gen.
