Were they afraid about "cross gen" game criticism?

The Crew coming to Xbox 360 no love for PS3

Ubisoft has just announced that its massive open world racing game, The Crew will now be making its way to the Xbox 360 alongside the originally planned, PC, Xbox One and PS4 releases but suggests no love for the PS3. Developed by Asobo Studios with support from the teams at Ivory Tower, Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Shanghai, the game will be available from November 11th 2014, but before then, gamers on Xbox One and PS4 will enjoy a closed beta in September which has already seen success on the PC. The PC Beta will resume once more from August 25th.

That is weird. Will be getting it for the ps4 anyways.

Weird decision, one could start a conspiracy theory and say that Ubisoft isn't happy with the X1s installbase and thus wants to compensate with a 360 version, though it seriously doesn't make sense to not just put out a PS3 version as well, if they're going cross gen already.

The PS3 is difficult to develop for, maybe they think it won't be worth the added cost.

Im more surprised it can run on last gen.

"We did not want to port The Crew to the WiiU because the down scalling process would affect the gameplay".

This, probably was a far simpler process to get it onto 360 for easy profit.

Yeah, the usual blabla. I think honesty would be refreshing: "We do not port the game to WiiU, because we don't expect enough sales."

Yeah, that conspiracy doesn't make much sense. "We aren't happy with sales of this Xbox machine, so lets put the Crew another Xbox machine."

The PS3 still has a bigger racing audience, so only choosing the 360 seems most odd.

Like other people, I'm thinking the 360 version was cheaper and easier so they just did that. Maybe there were plans for a PS3 version that got scrapped.
