MS marketing machine in full tilt will surely bolster holiday sales unless sony actually tries to do something to push their product in the US... going on current trends I'd say 3 years, if ms bolsters greatly from holiday onwards probably never... if Sony wins this holiday in the US by a large margin 12-18 months after holidays

By I agree with you on the holidays, thats why I think we will know so early. If the holidays are awfull for the x1 then its only a matter of time.

Have you actually done the math on this?

Taken the worst case scenario that X1 will only sell 8 million consoles by the end of this year. That would mean PS4 would have to do 24 million until mid june.

Still seems achievable?

People need to learn the difference between linear and exponential groth.

The thing is that I think that 8m is the best case scenario for the x1 after the holidays.

Never, but 2:1 for the rest of this gen may just make MS shareholders reconsider a 4th Xbox. MS really needs to figure something out.

the gameshare feature is Huge if it works good, i already have a few friends who want to see it working before they buy the ps4, on top of that you have a few exclusives coming soon after the new year for hte ps4, got Driveclub(hopefully) coming out this holiday season the exclusive content for Destiny(for those that care bout it).  Seems to me Sony has learned from last gen and also seems like with the Tomb Raider exclusive to MS, that they have thier backs to the wall right now, being outsold by nearly 2-1 is going to make them desperate, hell they arent even outselling the wiiU right now.    i do think MS is desperate at this point.  i also dont think Tomb Raider is going to sell well on the X1 as the others havent sold well on xbox systems, i just think Squenix shot themselves in the foot there.  on top of that UC4 should be out around the same time.

Let's hear your reason how it is possible for the X1 to sell less than its launch month while still having 4 months to go in more countries, at a lower price, with a lot more games and Destiny no less.

I think at worst, XB1 will be 2:1 to PS4. The ratio might go slightly higher but but nothing major. Other than that i see XB1 pulling back, mostly because it is still relevant in the largest gaming region in the world.

Well they have done it since the begining. Every month they where NPD adjustments for both mainly the x1, so who is to say that the x1 was tracked horribly in the us and in EU and the rest of the world is being tracked with no mistakes. Its a garante that is way overtracked in EU and the rest of the world.

The sales for the x1 next year are going to be horrendes compared to this year with so few exclusive coming while the ps4 will increase a considerble ammount. So Im thinking since this year before e3 they where able to sell like 4m I think, next they will do 6m. The x1 will not do 1m.

This year the holiday is up an unknown, but unles there are stock issues again the  ps4 should do 2:1 the xbox and keep that lead.

if it will ever get to 3:1 it would have to be soon (smaller numbers) easier to be 3x8 than 3x10... also MS would have to do just awful this holiday... and COD bundle alone should prevent that from happening
