Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is moneyhatting frowned upon?

Why on earth is moneyhatting frowned upon? Google "moneyhatting dirty" and you will see what I mean, so what's wrong with it? Is it a BAD thing to secure games for your console, and get sales? Now we all know about Microsoft's parity clause. THAT is truly dirty (and probably the reason Sony doesn't moneyhat often). I understand it can be an annoyance, but all the hate surrounding it isn't necessary.

If your favorite console was the victim of an opponent's moneyhatting, suck it up. It's called healthy competiton.

I frankly don't care. It's not like there is a shortage of games. But I can understand fans being upset that they can't play games that they expected to play on their console of choice.

Companies are going to negotiate exclusives, I don't see why people expect them to be supportive of rival companies.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

because money hatting is literally paying a company money to make sure other people, who would have got to play it, now wont get to.

vs

Using your money from scratch to build a studio and create a game. this doesnt take anything away from the other side. The game would have never went else where.

edit:  and by the way,  healthy competition would be companies creating products and selling them on their own merrits.  Paying other companies in an effort to handi cap the other side, isnt healthy.

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

its only frowned upon if its Microsoft that did the moneyhatting

Its not a bad thing. It just sucks to not be the one on the winning side of said moneyhat.

All your observations shows you is that there are a lot of bitter losers. I mean if i were a platform holder and i could afford to, I would money hat the hell outta every game out there.

I don't think MS can do it after next year though. Especially if by then the PS4 is sitting at 30M+ sold and the XB1 is at around 12M.

I would not care IF THE FREAKING FIRST GAME WASN'T RELEASED ON PS3. XD but seriously this franchise is amazing and I love it, and now it is in danger of dying thanks to SE decisions. SE was not very happy with the original sales for TR for ps360 already, and now they do this? TR is now exclusive to a struggling X1 and I really hope it sells well because I enjoy this franchise.

Cause it sucks for gamers that chose another platform

What make you think they took something away?  How do you know the Square Enix wasn't going to announce that the game was cancelled?  How do we know that M$ didn't just save the game?

Maybe because M$ paid for this title, 2 or 3 others are now funded that wouldn't have been.

You are only looking at the obvious result and stating that it is the only result.  Nobody here or probably on any gaming website will know all of the facts that went into any Moneyhat situation.

It is near the end of the end....

This is true.
