I'm not an expert on this, but if Microsoft supplemented Crystal Dynamics with the money they could've gotten on PS4, would the X1 sales numbers be enough to justify the investment?
I mean, Crystal Dynamics would have profit, but would Microsoft turn a profit from the exclusivity deal?

Let me just put it this way....Square was complaining when the game sold six million copies. It hasn't even sold two million between the 360 and the Xbox One while the game has sold almost 2.7 million on the Playstation 3 and 4 combined. The high sales of this game was a group effort amongst five platforms. Putting it on one platform is going to demand a lot of cash out of MS.
Lets just say this...I hope they profit or else they could go under this gen for sure. This is too big a risk. Crytek almost went under making Ryse exclusive to MS and now they want to bring it to other platforms. This should've been their first decision in the first place.

You are using VGchartz numbers...
It does not include digital. Keep that in mind.
Crytek dig their own grave with bad planing and management. Ryse started as a 360 Kinect game and went to at least 3 revisions. It´s a OK game but shows cleary every mark of a rushed development.
Also, Crysis 3 sold only about half Crysis 2 did.
And every body seems to forget that Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall (and Sunset OD) all follow a similar bussiness model as Ryse.
