Timed exclusive people

While that's potentially true, since SE is publishing, I haven't seen this stated. Beyond that, didn't Greenburg deny it on Twitter?

No, but he did say that it would be exclusive during the holiday season and that they wouldn't be forgetting about their fans that only play on Ps4 and PC.

Then right after they mentioned that other TR game that's coming out on PS4 and PC and TR DE.  That's how they're not forgetting the PS4 and PC gamers.  Although I think this is a timed exclusive that line doesn't prove it.

Noteworthy is subjective.

I'll take my Halo games over anything you mentioned. Tomb Raider was just a nice bonus as a Xbox owner.

Its not a bonus at all, you were getting the game anyway before so nothing changes, unless you take satisfaction in PS gamers not getting the game, then I guess its a nice bonus for you.

Okay, let me spell it out for you. Not losing Tomb Raider is a bonus for me as a Xbox owner!

I hate that both MS and Sony buy exclusives. But sometimes publishers agree to these deals because they need the money or want to reduce risks.

Wow... Timed or not. I guess I'll have to wait. I've bought all the TR games on PS systems. I guess I'll get it on PC, if it goes there.

This game will definitely sell a few consoles. Not like big hitters, but still a small boost.

I have to admit there is a certain delicious irony in Sony fans being on the recieving end of a money hat these days.

As an old console warrior I remember in the 90s/early 2000s that basically Sony relied on this strategy of money-hatting third party games to keep them off Nintendo/Sega/MS platforms.

Nowadays they don't have the big bank account anymore and can't afford to getting into bidding wars for games.

The irony too is the franchise we're talking about (Tomb Raider) was at one time held under lock and key by Sony, lol.

IMO, I say until we hear otherwise, as in 100% certainty, it's an Xbox One exclusive.

Alrighty! But this is the last time I'm changing it unless there is actual confirmation.

it´s funny to see how the perception of people works.
if microsoft does it, it´s the worst thing ever.
if sony does it, it´s genius.

Well when Sony does it, its for the gamers.

if microsoft pays for an exclusive, the company sucks.
if sony pays for an exclusive, it´s a genius move and makes the ps4 an even better choice.

sorry to say it, but it´s fu**ing hard to stay calm when the stupidity of fanboys takes over.
even the thread title is full of bias toward sony.

as of now, it´s a xbox one exclusive. get over it.

this bias towards sony is making me mad. sony is neither better nor worse than microsoft.
i personally like to be neutral. but with all this pro sony, contra microsoft bullshit, i have to bias myself towards microsoft to counter this unbalanced stupidity. even if it is just a little.

@ all microsoft fanboys
don´t get fooled by the sony camp. it´s full of little kids.
your community is by far the best. stay mature and be proud of your system.
it´s the better and more future oriented one.
this is comming from a future game developer.

I don't think the problem is MS specifically paying for it, it is SE and CD accepting the offer and kicking everyone who enjoyed the relaunch and who stuck with it over the years even after the games problem times in the teeth because a lot/most are on PC and Playstation.

I'm pretty sure the idea of Sony doing this exact thing would also be questioned and ripped apart if the deal removed it from PC as well as Xbox. The Series has been on PC since the start.

Besides there are 2 types of exclusives it seems with MS and Sony, MS pay for development but say put it on our console you keep the IP. Sony goes to the developer and says, we've got an IP can you make it? We'll pay you. Both very just ways of doing things.

MS buying a game already announced and shown for other consoles and platforms... big no no.

Hmm, pie.

Why is everyone saying this is a timed exclusive?

Read the statement from the development team for yourself:

Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.

Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

Thanks,

Darrell Gallagher
Crystal Dynamics Head of Studios

No word about "timed" or "exclusive for 2015" there.
