Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo isnults Canadian's!

I just got off the Wii boards on Nintendo.com where something was brought to my attention!

Nintendo just created a poll on the Everybody Votes Channel that is very offensive to its Canadian user base.  The pol's question was Which expression due Canadian's use most "Eh or Sorry" this is horribly offensive. While its true the majority of the world does stareotype us as the most peacefull people on the earth this makes us sound either cowardly or like hicks.

The poll is already creating outrage on the Nintendo boards and I'm e-mailing in a complaint. I'm not sure how many other Canadian's are offended but isn't insulting someones Nationality just as bad as insulting them for their skin colour or their religeous faith?

I'd like your opinion, if we created a poll question that asked what phrase American's use most "Terrorist or Ruff" how would that go over? Is it fair to insult our country or any one elses country?

Oh, for crying out loud, who cares? Do you seriously have nothing better to do?

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Your Waaaaaaaaaay over-reacting,

I'm from Australia and if there was a poll saying something like:

What do Australians say most, "G'day or Bloody 'ell"

I'd just laugh cause it's funny and be proud that my country got mentioned to the world for that day,

Be proud that your countries known to be polite and easy-going, I would be and I am cause that's what Australia's like.

I mean, Australians don't really talk like Steve Irwin but we're not offended.

Be a bit more layed back man, seriosuly.

Yeah, no big deal really. This PC nonsense is getting too out of hand. Anyway, nationalism as a concept isn't seeing its brightest days, so I don't think this will be a big issue. Maybe it's just me not being one of those nutty "proud to be Canadian" people who can't stand latent (but insignificant) critical approaches to language usage. It's just stereotypes... nothing you should get offended about. In fact, games are fundamentally rooted in generalization and stereotyping, so why would you get so offended as a supposed gamer? You see it (and play it) all the time after all...

You were such a loyal N-custumer mr. JC7... What now? Would you abandon ship of the N-worshipers

Seriously, I think it's pretty unfair of Big N but as some people here mention you are a bit spastic. This raid of other N-boys on you is really funny though...

BTW you were an author of these screaming Pokemon threads, weren't you?

Or South Park overall. When i read the first post, i was thinking that what they might ask about Australia, but ArtofAngels posted it. :) Those stereotypics are always funny. And i believe that the poll was suggested by canadian.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I am Canadian too and it kinda hurts at first, but then I realize that it's the internet. It was just a harmless joke not to be taken seriously. Besides, haven't you ever learned how our countries name is spelled? C-Eh-N-Eh-D-Eh
