Forums - Gaming Discussion - Top Ten Games of All Time

It's time for top ten games of all time.

Spanning console generations from the NES era to today, this unbiased list looks objectively at quality video games, of which only the very best can be considered in the top ten.

Discussion is irrelevant, as the list is purely objective, but feel free to reorder the list into your personal top ten.

1. Super Mario Bros. - NES

It doesn't get more iconic than this; the epitome of gaming, mascots and, in hindsight, completely bizarre enemies, powerups and worlds. Oh Miyamoto-san, it has truly been a pleasure to waltz inside your mind, tripping the light fantastic.

2. Super Mario Bros. - Famicom Disk System

The Mario game you know and love, but now with the added conveniece of a finnicky, proprietry floppy-disk, useable only on a Japan-only peripheral to the Famicom. Sign me up!!!

3. Super Mario All-Stars - SNES

Wait, did I just buy the greatest game of all time... and then get 3 more greatest-games-of-all-time for free? *cue eerie Twilight Zone theme-esque music*

AND they've all been given a sexy facelift? What more can be said but WOW!

4. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe - GBC

Just when I thought I had wasted money on my GameBoy Printer, this gem appeared to give it new life. For that alone, it is worthy of a place in this list; but it's also the greatest game of all time.

5. Classic NES Series: Super Mario Bros. - GBA

Holy smokes, I'm suddenly playing the exact greatest game of all time, like I'd only previously dreamed of, on the go. It's been nearly 20 years, but by golly it was worth the wait.

6. Virtual Console: Super Mario Bros. - Wii

Where did that classic cartridge go off to? It's ok, we forgive you Mario, we can never be angry at you for too long.

7. Super Mario All-Stars - 25th Anniversary Edition - Wii

Discs aplenty with special bonuses, videos and more packaging than you can poke a stick at. All is forgiven.

8. Virtual Console: Super Mario Bros. - 3DS

The greatest game in the world just went 3D?!?!?

No? Oh ok.

We'll just settle with it being the greatest game in the world then.

9. Virtual Console: Super Mario Bros. - Wii U

For the sentimental, who simply couldn't bear to suck the life from their beloved Wii's. Super Mario Bros. is back on the Wii U Virtual Console. Proper gamepad support is finally here.

10. Super Luigi Bros. (NES Remix 2) - Wii U

Prepare yourself for the ultimate paradigm shift in gaming since the inception of the first Mario game. You now scroll to the left.

Simply masterful. Amazing. 10/10.

Can't really complain with that list. It has so much quality and especially diversity - it's pretty clear every game from every age was took into consideration. I would say I would have Super Mario Bros. 2 in there, but that's just nitpicking.

Anyways, I know this is a joke thread, but I'm going to post my personal top 10 regardless:
10 - Portal
9 - Star Fox 64
8 - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
7 - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
6 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
5 - Pokémon X and Pokémon Y
4 - Portal 2
3 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
2 - Shadow of the Colossus
1 - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

1. Zelda 1

I don't even like this game very much, finding dungeons ruined the game. This is just for the sake of the thread.

2. A Link to the Past

Link has awful sword range, the story is very lackluster compared to the concept, and I was never able to finish it. Again, for the sake of the thread.

3. Link's Awakening/DX

Actually the first game I liked a lot. The level-design is amazing, and the story is actually good for the concept in my opinion. Make a spiritual sequel to this one Nintendo!

4. Ocarina of Time

Everything I said about Link's Awakening, minus the spiritual sequel.

5. The Wind Waker

This game isn't that great compared to the HD version, but It's okay. Also lol.

6. Four Swords Adventures

Fans had been asking for a real sequel to OOT, and this is what we got. But still Toon Link is so cute. And also for the sake of the thread.

7. Phantom Hourglass

I haven't even played it. But still, the thread.

8. Skyward Sword

I skipped Twilight Princess because it can suck my d*ck. Also lol Link is closing his eyes.

9. A Link Between Worlds

Ravio is smokin'.

10. Wind Waker HD

lololololololololololololol

10. Red Dead Redemption
9. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
8, Max Payne 2
7. Resident Evil 4
6. Super Mario World
5. Metal Gear Solid
4. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
2. The Last of Us
1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
