Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One Tier 2 Countries Will Give the Console a Large Boost!

There will be a boost but not that much significant. In June there were statistics published for the size of game market in Europe.

That's western europe: http://www.gry-online.pl/Galeria/Html/Wiadomosci/1122488486.jpg

and that's middle and eastern : http://www.gry-online.pl/Galeria/Html/Wiadomosci/1122488502.jpg

As for console sales x360 was quite popular also among casual gamers (motion controls) due to lack of Wii (Nintendo doesn't care about Poland).  Well, I'm surely buying XOne, PS4 feels alone under TV ;)

I think XB1 will get a fair boost from the Tier 2 countries.

Can't wait to pick up mine, here in SA.

The price is decent and the bundles are pretty good. I was hoping for a bundle with Ryse though...but oh well Fifa and Forza will have to do. I dont have either on PS4 so still a good deal for me.

Wait, Romania ( which is not getting the X1) is above countries like Slovakia and Hungary which are getting the X1! That's BS! -__-

I think there's a chance we'll hear about some of the markets getting sold out of units at launch, but it won't be because Europe has suddenly become a powerhouse in sales for the Xbox One, but rather because retailers, and Microsoft, won't be stuffing the channel with too many. Even Microsoft would be seriously surprised if they gain a lot of traction in those countries, and so I doubt that they are going to expend many resources stocking them to the brim. And the individual stores are going to be looking towards keeping a tight ship and efficient stockroom for when the holidays hit, so they're not going to be stocking up on more units than they think is, at minimum, necessary. In other words, unless the console under performs in those regions even more than pretty much everybody including Microsoft is expecting, they will likely have some rather vague 'supply constraints' claims emerging.

As for the baseline, good rule of thumb is that however many you think the Xbox one is going to have as a baseline in those regions, expect the PlayStation 4 to outsell it by at the absolute minimum 2:1. Even 2:1 is only if the Xbox One does MUCH better than expected, 3:1 is much more likely. So anyone expecting a 30k baseline for the Xbox One out of those regions, it basically insinuates that the PlayStation 4's baseline from the same regions will average 60-90k.

Good , a stable, or growing population is healthy for a country. All is good. I joke here a lot.

Well, it certainly depends. As illustrated by our GDP per capita we have the resources to sustain growth for quite a while, but other countries (such as China, though that is an extreme example) would benefit from a lower/decreasing population.

(Not directly aimed at quoted post, rather the conversation)

That Tier 1 / Tier 2 story is just how Microsoft handles the XBox One launch, not something that's set in stone somewhere. It has nothing to do with GDP or population, just how much product they sell in those countries in absolute numbers. The countries they call 'Tier 1' are simply the countries they sell the most stuff. The European countries in the so-called Tier 2 are just there because they seem to care even less about XBox than the rest, so they're less important to Microsoft because they only sell maybe a couple dozen consoles each week there. Same for Japan being 'Tier 2', which is obviously a big videogame market for anyone else.

How much will the Tier 2 countries help Xbox One? Some people say the Xbox One did not release in those countries because of low 360 sales however the 360 most likely did 500k-1 million+ in every single one of them.

Lol no.

Total Xb360 sales in the first 13 countries to receive Xb one is probably around 70 Million (USA+UK+France+Germany+Aus+NZ ~ 61M). That leaves 15 million console for the rest of the world to be distributed among the next 33 countries for an average of 450K per country.

Baseline of about 5K/week I would say, might be enough to push slightly ahead of Wii U most weeks.

Launch week in those 33 countries could push 200K.

I am thinking a solid million consoles in the first month of these countries (all of them together). Then, a steady extra 30k every week from those countries, from now on, for a long time.

I seriously can't tell if you're serious of not.

Even if he is doesn;t matter his predictions are not grounded in reality.

Calm down man, it was just a bet. I may be wrong. I am not trolling or anything, I have both consoles...

Really? That's weird given that Romania is in EU etc. Maybe Microsoft estimates lower sales for some reason ;/
