Big Rigs is a better game than Super Mario 3D World. It is much better looking, the effects of trucks falling through the ground is much more than is ever shown in 3D World. It is a great game for kids, they love playing with trucks, it is a great simplistic world with trucks that actually have wheels and interact with eachother until they fall through the ground. What about adults? Big Rigs can be a true challenge! Its difficulty truly is hard making it almost impossible to reach the finish line without crashing the game, and unlike so many of todays games there aren't that many checkpoints (or any for that matter), it harkens back to the days of old when you had to actually be good to beat a game without crashing it.. or falling through the ground. Can't beat a bit of it? Keep trying and practicing and then when you do finally realise that your opponent never actually moves you can savour that glorious taste of victory.
So what of 3D World? Sure it is colourful, but what story or character interaction is there? What of a challenge? What about trucks? Nope, no challenge and no trucks at all, fail enough times and you'll be given invincibility to help you out. Great lesson right there, keep failing and someone will come along and pretty much do it for you... and without a single crash, baffling.
So there you have it folks, Big Rigs > Super Mario 3D World
And it would appear that everyone agrees... Back in 2003, Big Rigs was selling moderately well while Super Mario 3D World was selling nothing at all.
