Forums - Gaming Discussion - So sick of the whole "this gen has no games" talk. Here is the truth.

my two cents on this is that this gen all the blockbuster games seem to have ps3 and x360 versions, whent he 360 came out they didnt make hardly any to any games for the OG xbox, ps2 was still getting a few but they were mostly sport games and games that were already being made for a while. After the 1st year the ps2 was pretty much not getting all the games except sport games

This gen has been different in the developers are holding on to the older systems and it seems its holding the games back from being graphically superior(meaning bigger difference then what we are seeing). Infamous SS while not the best game in the world looks way better then most of the crossgen games.

From a developer's point of view, I can respect that.  You want to sell your game where it will make the most money.  You simply can't ignore that 7th gen userbase.  From a gamer's point of view, I'm dying to get my hands on games that ignore 7th gen limitations and go all out showing what the new hardware can do!!  I wish more companies would risk it like Sony has with Killzone and infamous (like the next Batman game).  The time is coming but man, waiting is hard!!

But didn't the N64 launch with Mario 64 pretty much revolutionizig the idea of 3D platformers and introducing the in game adjustable camera concept that we still very much rely on today? ...  And isn't Wii Sports the single best selling console game of all time? I mean I'd counter that the game was packed in with the console But It's very clear that Wii Sports and it motion controll compatibility did just as much to sell the Wii as the Wii did to sell it.

Where are the industry changing games? Where are the leaps in innovation that moved us from 3D to HD and Gave us motion controls, all very early in their respective generations.

I think this year was awesome. If I had a PS4, I'd be playing it all the time. The reason why I don't own it is I'm not willing to pay 400 Euro for it no matter the games. But there sure are awesome games to be played.

BTW. Counting MK8 as a first year game isn't really right, is it?

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Agreed. The first year is always a bit weak but early adopters must know that. The second year is often much better.

This is common sense.  However some (Many?) lack it...

Except nearly all of them were on last gen including Halo 2, the biggest launch game.
