Yeah but, how much money did they make off those 83 million consoles? Next to nothing.

Next to nothing... compared to other things MS does. At this point it seems like game consoles are just a vehicle to push other products. Game consoles don't appear to be as pofitable as they once were. Sony and Nintendo give me that impression.

Anyhow, your response wasn't relevant.

How is not relevent? He asked if Xbox worked out ok for Microsoft and I said no because in fact have actually lost money on to point some people in the company want it gone or at least spun off to its own company. Sony actually makes a lot of money from gaming consoles as evident from their Q1 finanical report. With Nintendo, with the exception of Wii U they generally make a big profit off their consoles.

Actually I asked if having windows-shared games worked out for Xbox sales, and it did - marvelously.

Microsoft made plenty of money from Xbox 360 - would have been astounding if it weren't for RRoD. Its harder to tease out from Sony's figured, but for all the money they are making off PS4 now (still not that much), they lost a truck tonne on the PS3 (some of which they are making up at the back end now).

So we know that Ryse Son of Rome is coming to PC, just like Dead Rising 3. So since it was announced, and I never saw this when Dead Rising 3 was announced for PC, Xbox gamers are now saying, "well atleast it's MICROSOFT exclusive", and by Microsoft they are talking about PC. Microsoft isn't getting any money from Dead Rising 3 PC sales nor Ryse Son of Rome PC sales. But I swear, every forum, website, Youtube video related to this announcement I saw people saying "atleast it's Microsoft exclusive" , "PC = Microsoft"and this is something I've NEVER seen before, I've never seen people say something like this I am truly astonished by how many people are starting to say this.

Now I find this absolutely stupid. It's like your saying they get money for the games, which they don't or you're saying that just because you are using Windows, just like I am you are paying Microsoft. Nope, I didn't pay Microsoft a cent for Windows, the manufacturer pays them. But sure they do still get money, so? Paying for windows, which really isn't even paying them, is not the same as them getting money for the games that are published on PC. I have been laughing so much today, seriously. They are losing Xbox One exclusives left and right and what they're saying is just absolutely stupid.

I agree with you. Now all it would take is to release Halo: MCC & Quantum Break on PC, & Xbox One will be completely irrelevant.

To me it translates as "it's not coming to PS4."
So MS exclusive= not coming to PS4.
As of now, DR3 and Ryse are not coming to PS4.

This is foolish. Its coming to non console platforms so if you have a PC you have every reason outside of liking Halo and Gears to ignore the Xbox One. All that is left is Quantum Break. Thats the only big game MS has left to lose before people start to understand that the methodology that hurt them from last gen hasnt changed.

The funny thing is, this is essentially the exact reason I stopped buying games for the XB360 I bought in 2007 and instead bought them for the gaming PC I built in 2008.

When I look at the handful of XB360 games I bought over seven years, almost all of them (and there aren't many) represent the few games that remained XB360 exclusives.

With Kinect more or less out of the picture until some developer makes something truly magical for it, I have no reason to even think about buying an XBO other than for Halo and Gears of War; not enough to warrant having a giant sized XBO console on my entertainment shelf. Since I'm not going to subscribe to XBL Gold for a few games, I'm left with very little reason to ever buy one.

So now RYSE and DR3 are big games.

The average consumer doesn't care about exclusives by the way. Exclusives account for a relatively small chunk of software sales on Xbox and Playstation consoles.

You are completely correct. Most people buy consoles for 3rd party games, and with all of those being better on PS4, XOne really needs exclusives in order to entice consumers to consider it. Because when an average consumer sees that a cheaper console is also superior in performance and games on offer, the only thing left is exclusive support. Which in this case is miniscule and amounts to about 2 games per year.

Does the average consumer know the PS4 versions are generally better? I doubt it. Don't confuse people like us with the average consumer. They don't go online to observe the visual nuances. I know you'll find that hard to believe.

Why do you just assume that people that are about to spend $400+ on a piece of electronics just throw their money at the cash register blindly? Today, in the era of internet and youtube, all the info is only a click away.

And true, they will not scrutinize screenshots or even be able to distinguish between 900p and 1080p or 30 vs 60 fps themselves. And they don't need to. There are plenty of comparisons already served to them. They just need to google a few buzzwords, read a few articles and watch a few youtube videos, or ask a few knowledgable friends. And any objective dara will point them towards a superior, yet more affordable solution.

To think that XOne can generate sales strictly of the back of an "average consumer" is just wishful thinking. And those that are willing to spend  that much money without even knowing what they are buying are few and far between. And even in that particular case, Playstation brand is so much more powerful and has worldwide presence, while XBox brand virtually doesn't exist outside former British colonies and gamer-centric internet forums.

In the end, all XOne has to be different from PS4 in order to attract customers are irlts exclusives, which are few and far between, and increasingly available on other platforms...

How much did TitanFall sell on PC like 1.5 mil? Thats 1.5 mil XB1s at most that Microsoft has lost.

And PS4 potentially lost 2 million sales by not having Titanfall. PS4 lost another million for not having DR3. And maybe another million for not having Ryse!

This is a stupid argument.

does it really matter what people say? I've never understood the fanboy war thing. I love my ps4,but I'm not going to throw it in people's faces and act like it's the second coming of gaming. I think this should go for console/pc that you own.
