It will also continue to do its job until Hyrule Warriors is released in Japan and America. Then it will be helped by Bayonetta 2, Smash, and the holidays. All these factors will make the Wii U seem very attractive. By October, I expect it to be selling 80-100k weekly at the minimum.

Yes MK8 is doing its job. Now Nintendo just needs to keep steady releases coming.

I never expected something huge. I was pleasantly surprised by the FW sales though but the game is being held back by the Wii U itself so there is not much that Mario Kart 8 can do alone.

It should have done a lot more with it's online features and it may have saved Wii U.

Ya, it has kept it's 60k baseline nicely and alot people after a couple weeks it would fall back to 30k

Well, I was expecting around a 40k baseline after the initial boost, but I'm thrilled to see the Wii U adamantly sticking around 60k. Hopefully with all the games coming out in the fall and winter, it can get an even bigger Christmas boost than last year.

Now if only Nintendo can get the third parties on board, they'd be set... At this point, it would be a waste to try to get the big multiplats, since there are systems that have a better selection of those, but grabbing up exclusives would only help.

Let's be fair here, it wasn't MK8. It was Shovel Knight. Without Shovel Knight, MK8 and the WiiU would be dedzerosubs.

reading the OP it looks like its a numbers thing, i dont own nintendo stock so sale numbers doesnt cross my mind much.

i do own MK8 and think its one of the best titles to own for wiiu this year so far. So for me it was doing "its job".
