Forums - Gaming Discussion - Are the Wii U versions of multiplats better?

I personally find them distracting, immersion-breaking, and patronizing. It's like getting a pat on the head every time I do something right.

It really depends on the implementation.  I like the implementation in Tomb Raider as it encourages exploration.  It's very tied to the game itself.

Other games, especially on Xbox 360 just give points for anything.  You started the game, Achievement!  On the other extreme would be The Last Of Us that doesn't give a trophy for hours, even after the difficulty ramps up.  Also the platinum trophies are often so much effort that they're not worth it (don't know wether to admire completionists or console them for no life).  I don't like either of those cases much.

As has been eloquently pointed out in numerous threads fps and resolution are negligible and not a legitimate basis on which to judge what multiplat version is best. So surely the version that brings a unique perspective to the gameplay must be given the title of best unless the game is a broken buggy mess.

So surely that makes Wii U the objectively best place to play your multiplats because of the freshness that the tablet controller brings to the Wii U version of a multiplat game.

Sure there are fewer multiplats on Wii U, but certainly the fact remains that when a multiplat does have a Wii U version then the Wii U version provides the overall superior experience.

Agree? Disagree? Discuss.

From what I saw, WiiU version of multiplat is not even better than PS3 or 360 version some time. So I don't agree with you.

Graphics, physics, animations and performance is what really matter in multiplatform games, so PS4 would always be the best choice, in most cases.(Consoles)

The Controller you use and prefer is just a matter of taste and opinion.

I ended up just turned them off on mine cos nothing kills the mood like the icon popping up after beating a boss or an important story point.

The only game I like better on Wii U than PC is Deus Ex: Director's Cut. I'm playing through it now and the gamepad is used really well.

havnt played it, but does the better gameplay make up the price difference? got it in the last humble bundle for free(well it wasnt free but i buyed the bundle for another game and found out that Deus EX is in the packed after buying, so it feels free)

Wii u multiplats suit me better, mainly because i can play them all off tv

Erm, in that case, probably not. I paid the same ($20) for both my versions.

Some of them, yes. You could make a case for the following games and series: Call of Duty, LEGO, Skylanders, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Rayman Legends, Sonic & All-Stars Racing, and Tekken Tag Tournament.

It really depends on how the GamePad is used, and what extra features are bundled with the WiiU version.

IMO Wii U has the very worst version of multiplats. No achievements/trophies = bad game to me.

I'm the opposite, Trophies/Achievements take away from games for me. I hope Nintendo never embraces them.

While i respect that this is your opinion, just wanted to point out how I never understand people that say this. For lack of a better description it usually comes off to me as "well, since nintendo doesn't have it, I will just hate it so I don't care".

Every nintendo game, actualy scratch that, every game has some sort of trophy/achievement/milestone system in place. Like getting a certain number of coins in a mario game, or all the hearts in a zelda game, or the added things like beating the game in a certai time or a certain way or killing a boss without getting touched..etc.

All trophies/achievements does is that they take those in game milestones (that is usually put there to challenge a player or act as a tracker for a games completion status) and builds a ssytem around them that makes it possible to at a glance see everything you have or could have done in a game and compare with your friends if you want to. How any of this can be a bad thing is beyond me. There are bad implementations of trophies/achievements (grind based stuff) but I think overall it gives more than it takes.

To OP: This is a joke thread right?

Oh there are plenty of things Nintendo doesn't have that I don't hate. Games like Bioshock or Uncharted for example.

I just find achievements/trophies intrusive and unnecessary.
