Sad day for traditional animation. With Pixar and DreamWorks success and Disney switching to 3D there really is no 2D animation studios can expect to release films with major marketing. Shame as I adore many Ghibli films.

I know I'd rather have Ghibli doing their usual things, but before closing their anime studio I would rather seeing thier talent preserved.

Yeah but that means laying off all employees which is the worst part. Even if after a while they decide to reopen because they get investors or whatever they'll have to hire new employees unless the previous ones didn't get a job in the meantime.
