Why don't they try making a fun, whimsical, exciting movie again instead of just jumping ship? The last four or five movies have been quiet dramas. When Miyazaki was helming all these fairytale-esque projects they were doing great, but it's like without him they just don't have a bit of creativity.

Maybe they wouldn't be in trouble if it didn't take years for their stuff to arrive in NA. I'm still waiting to see the wind rises.
As much as I love them, their last few movies were exactly the same, there is no inspiration at all.
Maybe they will find better writers.

Dude, are you fucking kidding me? Arrietty wasn't about a witch. There was no magic involved. It was The Borrowers as a Ghibli movie. The concept is little people that live in the walls of your house and take your things and that's why they disappear. It wasn't even a fantasy world.

If Nintendo is looking to expand their merchandise and promote their IPs, this is a good chance. Buy Ghibli and make to work on an animated Mario movie, advance wars, fire emblem, fzero, pikmin animes/movies...
I know I'd rather have Ghibli doing their usual things, but before closing their anime studio I would rather seeing thier talent preserved.

No. Miyazaki said many times that he thought of closing the studio when he'd retire.
