Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony was right, EA access is a rip-off and needs to flop

You note some good points about games rotating in-and-out of the list, and the troubles with dlc purchases (Sony faced a similar issue with drive club PS+ edition...).

Yet, we have to see if they rotate the games often, for some players it may be worth it anyway since they play the games then trade them as soon as the sequel comes out (battlefield/cod) or they never touch the old ones... They are effectively paying upward to 100$ a year for a single game! So if ea wants to avoid another PR disaster they could have some games staying in the rotation 1 full year, then change the others every 3 months or so... It would make zero sense to me, I don't play ea games that much, but some battlefield player who would buy the dlc would probably buy it only for battlefield...

Now for versatile players it sucks because all those publishers could end up doing the same... I say as long as this membership model does not affect the existing businesses model, I am OK with it.

My problem with your post is that you implied some "shoveling down our throat" well... Just no, that's not something forced, in fact its easily dismissed.

Why is EA access relevant for you Vita buying decision? Besides the yearly lazy FIFA rehashes they don't make Vita games anyway ;)

Fifa, NFS and Madden

that's more than most publishers

The decision to develop Vita versions of "Madden 2013" and "NfS: Most Wanted" was probably before the first Vita-handheld was sold. EA killed Vita-support just as fast as WiiU support, only exception are the FIFA rehashes they put nearly no effort in.

What you fear is destined to happen with only big players on the market.
Access for all...

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Playstation Now is a bigger rip off though, so they have no right to call EA out.

This.  And people just seem to like to pick on EA if they do something good.

Uh oh, dont bring up PS Now, its just the beta testers that they're screwing over. It may get better if enough people complain though. :P

You know the OP is right when all you hear is "b-b-b-but PS now!"

So what is the argument? That because EA offers a subscription service it is catastrophical to the industry? On PS Now games are offered for the same price for 4 hour playtime, way more restricting than EA Access, yet I suppose you won't write a huge rant about that?

Ever since subscription models entered the scene with XBL, PS+ for games, Netflix and Huluplus for movies/series, my cost for enjoying games/movies has been reduced greatly. I will prefer GWG since I get to keep them aslong as I subscribe but I only see EA Access as an added service. If I don't like it, I don't buy, that strange freedom of choice thing you know. But at least I get to make that choice.
