Yes, 3D head tracking.

The 3DS is the other Nintendo failed product of the last generation, although they save it by slashing the price low just before it's release and capitalizing on the quasi-monopoly they had with the DS.

While it was a good idea, it was horribly executed: the screen is horrible, and the design of the device pretty ugly. If they managed to do a clean, rip-less, HD screen with the parallax effect, then yes this would have been good.

I definitely want it. I feel there's more than can be done with it. Also I want backwards compatibility with 3DS. Of course, since the 2DS runs 3DS games, maybe that's not an issue, but I want to experience my 3DS games in 3D. Ocarina of Time was awesome in 3D, and the 3D helped me in certain settings, like horseback archery.

I would rather they focus on a better native resolution instead of putting in the 3D element. The 3D is honestly pretty bad on most games. Games like Pokemon X/Y take it out almost completely. Just focus on making one really great screen with a beautiful HD resolution, instead of 2 subpar screens that a lot of games will never really take advantage of anyway.

If there was some way to implement it without increasing costs, then I wouldn't care one way or the other.

The 3D effect is just headache inducing, and isn't immersive in the slightest.

2D for me. I never use the 3D effect on my 3DS as it is. Eats extra battery life, gives the screen a flicker effect every slight move ( a portable best played stationary) but most importantly it adds no value to my gaming experience.

Just makes the system more expensive than it needs to be. I think the dual screen setup as a whole is going out next time around anyway which makes a 3D screen problematic anyway.

Single screen. Look at the recent patent that Nintendo filed for a portable with replaceable controls -- the handheld shown is a single screen display, that's a tip off to what they're planning for next-gen IMO.

Gimme on decent quality, large touch panel display ... 1280x720 resolution, 5.8 inches or so, no 3D effect ... that's good enough and its cheaper and uses less battery.

By the time the console is released (~2016/2017), I expect 2560x1600 to be the normal resolution for phones/tablets, so I think Nintendo would be wise to go with a 1920x1080 display on their console.

You need to have a chip that can drive a 2560x1600 while gaming though. That's not so easy. Not with it having more than 30 minutes of battery life.

1280x720 is good PPI for a screen in the vicinity of 5.7 inches or so, to achieve Wii U level graphics Nintendo will probably have to run games at a lower resolution even, like 960x540. This is also a device that has to be sold for under $250, maybe under $200 too from day 1.

We are talking about 2-3 years from now, though, where mobile technology will have evolved considerably.

There are already mobile phones at 2560x1600 playing graphically intensive games for hours at end, in 3 years 1920x1080 should be easily balanced with battery life and game power.
