2nd Tournament begins in about a week - here's how it'll go:

INSCRIPTIONS: Feel free to join us! To be a part of the tournament, all you have to do is post your FC and the team you'll be using (which must have at least 6 Pokémon, and up to 8 at most). You don't need to reveal abilities, movesets, held items or anything else - just the names of your Pokémon (not nicknames, obviously).

The competition will start in a round-robin format, with every inscripted player having one battle with each other. At the end of each battle, the players will be awarded 3 points for a clear win (2-0 upwards), 2 points for a narrow win (1-0 and 0-0), 1 point for a narrow defeat (0-1 and 0-0) and 0 points for a comprehensive defeat (2-0 upwards). After every match has been played, there will be a final ranking between everyone, and the 4 players with the best performance will proceed to the knockout stage.

The knockout stage will start with 2 semi-finals (1st vs 4th and 3rd vs 2nd), from which the two finalists will be decided. The player who wins the final will be crowned champion (do I really need to point this kind of stuff out?). Anyways, the most important thing is this: unlike the previous stage, every match in the knockout stage will consist of up to 3 battles, and the first player to win 2 goes through.

Team-Making Rules: Every player is allowed to register up to 8 Pokémon to be in their teams, though they can only use up to 6 per battle. This means that a player can change their team to face certain rivals - however, in the knockout stage, the selected team for a match must be the same for as many battles as required. Every player must register at least 6 Pokémon in their teams before the competition begins, though they can extend their roster up to 8 during the competition. It's important noting that, while you don't have to reveal held items and movesets (and it is allowed to change them during the tournament), you must reveal all your Pokémon when registering them - each player's teams will be shown on the thread's OP.

More rules:
Battle Type: PSS - Single Battle 6v6, Normal Rules (Set to Lv. 50)

I'd probably be down.

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence." - C.S. Lewis

"Anyone who tries to use the word "fanboy" as a legitimate descriptive term in any intelligent conversation needs to go back to grade school. Immature no-brain bullshit like that is why normal people look at video game players and only see acne-ridden dweebs with severe social issues." - Myself

Im pretty sure there was a pokemon thread... It has probably just fallen out of use... Probably be a good thing to start up again, especilly with the new games coming out

*shameless bump*

I use the Poke's I like so I usually end up with mostly UU tier, with the exception of one or two (Kingdra, Cloyster). So I wouldn't participate but I'd like to watch ... if that's possible.

I don't think it is.

Anyway, I understand where you're coming from, but even when you only play with Pokémon you like it's still very possible to create a good team. I never thought I could be decent competitively because of this, but especially in this generation with the different breeding mechanics, EV training and Mega Evolutions, I was able to create a pretty good team with 4 of my favorite Pokémon and 2 that I still like (though not as much as the other ones).

All you need is a little bit of effort and belief. Never trust Smogon tiers - they're good for you to have an idea of how things work, but it's fine to have lower tier Pokémon. For example, my team has 1 UU and 1 NU 'mons, and they can both be pretty good sometimes - as good as being able to singlehandedly win battles every now and then. Sure, you need to have some good OU ones, and if there's not at least 2/3 from that tier that you feel like using, it's going to be hard to be competitive.

I should probably also add that I'm pretty shite at Pokemon games.

I hosted a Pokemon tournament once; here's the way you are able to watch (if you have beaten the game already, and post-match): save the replay, post the code that it spits out on here so people with Pokemon can watch the replay.

Current Consoles: Gaming PC, Wii U, 3DS
