Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games reaches 4million

I'm sorely disappointed -_- To me this is worse than Kane and Lynch selling a million >_>

You mean worse than making a company fire people for not giving a good enough review?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

ok lets look at this. When Sega said 4 million everyones response was: ROFL!!! Sega!! what were you smoking. Now everyones response is: 4 million hah! Its a shovelwear game! No one cares about it. Why? do you get down on Sega's first success in a while. Just accept it as a game. And enjoy your good health.

They won't be settled until Nintendo and Sega start producing the SNES and Genesis again, and develop, for both systems, a 2D platforming game with Mario against Sonic.

The reason this game get my panties in a bunch is just because I think it was terrible ploy to sell a mediocre game -_-; Of course people will like it, I can honestly see 4 million people buying it just because it has the names Mario, Sonic and Olympics :/ I HATE this game because it took two icons out of their respective ventures and stuck them in a game that could potentially be considered a cash-in.

Put it this way, I love Kratos, I love Snake, would I play Kratos and Snakes day at Nascar? F#$!@@#$@#!$@#$ NO!!!! 3 popular things, one horrid premise of a game.

I always imagined Mario and Sonics first adventure being somewhere along the lines of a cross-dimensional gap, and starting out with a very confused Mario or Sonic. I pictured Mario wondering WTF happened when he got hit by a bullet bill and rings spewed from his body, I imagined Sonic freaking out when he touched a mushroom and got enormous! I pictured Mario walking up to a massive loop-de-loop with that perplexed look on his face. Something that could have been comedic, adventurous, classic beyond any level ever experienced in a game before, but instead we got another Mini-game game >
And the other thing that really cooks the goose is that even though the game got mediocre reviews, people keep telling me around here to give it a chance!!! "Oh it's actually fun if you play" "oh give it a break it's good" "blah blah", but when other "mediocre games" *cough cough LAIR cough* come out, people who defend it get sacrificed to our VGC Alter :P and get told repeatedly to just stop trying to justify a shitty game, move on it sucks, get over it Lair blows, insert random comment, etc etc. I just don't get the double standard on something that should have much higher/stricter criteria.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

^you can hate it but it gets addictive--espicaly with a friend--i own it and love it

I always thought 4m was totally possible, low even. As I said in the original thread on this (before it launched) the general public sees this as Wii Sports 2.

Oh no thats fine that the game can be fun, I just personally think the fact that Mario and Sonic are in it contribute to 0% of what makes that game fun. If it was the same games, only Mii's or some other generic characters it would be just as fun, just not as high selling. In essence I feel Mario and Sonic were tacked on after the game was made just to make it sell. And I personally find that disgracefull for the industry.

You don't have to like it, but a disgrace is not based just on what you think. There has to be an actual backlash.

The one that happened was silenced when the game showed such consistent sales.
