Well it already opened in most European markets and so far it only made 66 million compared to the 95 million it made domestically. The only major overseas boost it can get will come from China where it opens on Septemper the 5th. China will soon be the biggest market for movie as a matter of fact it will probably happen a lot sooner then most experts predicted since Transformers 4 had no problem making over $300 million dollars in just a couple weeks there.
Hearing a lot of positive reviews for this. Might actually go watch it.
Saw it last night, and I loved it. Pretty fun movie w/ a nice mix of comedy/action/drama, and I really enjoyed the friendship theme it had going on. Also the music was awesome! I enjoyed Captain America Winter Soldier more, but the tone between both movies were completely different.
Anyways, glad it's doing well since it would give Marvel/Disney confidence to explore other lesser known characters.

Add what you said to the fact people were hungry for something good.... Really most of the summers movies have been a letdown except for the may releases (XMen and The Edge of Tommorow exceeded my expectations). I though Apes was kinda boring, and well I was really hoping that Transformers 4 would be better than it was.

1. Avengers series (and spin offs)- Serious tone with Comedy mixed in
2. Guardians- Comedic tone, with some serious moments mixed in

Guardians did very well on Monday its tracking ahead of Captain America 2 now so $250 million plus is possible domestically as long as its legs stay decent.

Its doing incredible overseas. Its global opening weekend was only 9 million less than Winter Soldier and that had a recognizable main hero and multiple Avengers in it like Cap, Nick Fury, and Black Widow. guardians is THE home run of the summer without question. |
Except Captain America is distinctly called Captain AMERICA which does actually put off some people
As happy as I am for GotG, it's amazing, I'm getting concerned that this whole comic book craze is going to get out of control before too long. This year I've seen Capn 2, X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and GotG. Then coming up later this year we've got Arrow, Flash {I don't care about Gotham and Contantine}, Marvel's Agents of Shield and the Secret Agent Carter (or whatever it's called). Then Daredevil on Netflix
It's out of control! But has lead to the cool Lego Milano sitting on my shelf!
Well deserved, saw it again last night (just for the extra scene I didn't see at the preview). Will see it again in standard 3D sometime.
Hmm, pie.
