Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumour: Infighting in Nintendo Management Leads to Scheming to Get Rid of Iwata

...why is this thread back up? Seriously, are people THAT desperate for something to do that we've resorted to this? Okay, guys, the story is bogus. Not because of the above theory of it being Neogaf-manufactured, but because it makes no goddamned sense, messes up basic facts, and clearly has no idea how a business works.

Firstly: Yamauchi was not Nintendo's founder. He was the 3rd president of the company.

Secondly: HAL Laboratory is a Nintendo company. Sure, they made games for the MSX back in the day but from the Famicom forward they were Nintendo. Iwata was NEVER an outsider.

And thirdly (and how the HELL has no one noticed this?): The idea of Iwata being ousted is legally impossible, at least by the way the article claims. Note: it says "management". Not "shareholders" and not "board of directors." Ya know what that means? They're basically claiming Iwata's employees are attempting to usurp him.

....Guys, that's not possible. Why? YOU CAN'T FIRE YOUR BOSS. That's not how things work; you can't just storm into a dude's office and claim you're taking over just because. This isn't about election or stockholders, this article is basically claiming Nintendo employees are going to storm Iwata's office like The French Revolution. Not how things work; businesses do not undergo Game of Thrones plots. Just let this stupid article DIE already.

Honestly, their management either needs to go or drastically change. The decisions they make now with the reasons are just horrible. Nintendo is going to far down the hole. It is like they hit bottom and then started to dig even lower.

What decisions are you reffering to?

Have you seen their marketing strategies? Have you seen the VC and overall digital structure and the state it is in? Their decision on the Horrid NNID system. Their region lockings decisions. CLub Nintendo is a complete joke. Their over all handling of the Wii U in general really. Like come on, they go on about the online capabilities for a system and then don't even really do it. Their signature game for the Wii U had no online (don't tell me that having peoples miis counts as online) and then now we have other games that are comining out that are local co-op only. The constant restrictions they put on to make things kid friendly even though you have a browser that you can go and browse for porn. They're not doing anything really to interest developers to their system so instead. Developers are walking away and leaving them out making it so there is hardly anything coming. I don't  know about you though, I don't like getting a quality game every 3-4 months and after each one is followed by drought after drought after drought.

I wasn't asking for damage control purposes, I actually wanted to know.  Easy :p

Those are all very good points and I agree with all of the opinionated ones.

This been debunked as NeoGaf BS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joVPJ2CDtyk

No it's not. It was posted on a Japanese message board. Someone at NeoGaf just tried to translate it from English to Japanese, that's what some sites linked to the NeoGaf post, because it makes more sense to link to an English language post than a Japanese one that no one but Japanese speakers understand.

The source is a Japanese Business website forum. Is it credible? Who knows. But it's not NeoGaf.

I don't think any "coup" at Nintendo is anywhere close to imminent, but at the same time this is the first time Nintendo has ever tasted successive losses and this is the first time their grip on the handheld market has seriously been challenged by underwhelming sales on their part. They've never had a console perform this badly.

It wouldn't exactly *shock* me if perhaps some within Nintendo's higher ranks aren't neccessarily all gung-ho about Iwata.

I'm not really sure he has an adequete answer to how Nintendo deals with the threat of mobile for starters.

Did you watch the video at all? Even if was on the Japanese message board that's still not a crediable source.

We should be able to discuss it and it is from a Japanese message board. Not from NeoGaf. And generally NeoGaf is pretty good at squashing rumors that eminate from their site anyway.

If you feel that it's not credible so be it, but other people want to discuss it.

In the video its explained that It was posted on NeoGaf and the articles written about used Geogaf as the source and people posteed it again on NeoGaf. I'm not telling anyone to discuss it, it just seems your ignoring what is the video. Its a false rumor and this is the proof.

can someone send iwata a copy of the A Song of Ice and Fire books? that should teach him how to deal with those people...

That person is wrong.

This is the source article:

http://biz-journal.jp/2014/08/post_5585.html

Someone on Neogaf simply tried translating it from Japanese to English.

Some zealous Nintendo fan saw that and thought the rumor originated from Neogaf.

This is the most ridiculous rumor I have ever heard!! :D

If it is true though, then I like Iwata even more! Having horrible games on mobile alone will not solve anything.

??? who said anything about releasing a crappy product? where did you even get that from? The products wont be crappy if they do it right

You were responding to a post about their games not working well on mobile.  Hence, crappy product.

my point is people would still buy it, they buy them all the time

RIght, I understand that.  People will buy it.   My point was that using name recognition, to sell a crappy product, erodes brand trust.  It might be fine for short term profit, but it damages the one thing Nintendo has going for them - faith in their software.
