Dolphin emulator is quite popular ( Dolphin HD – 10,000,000+ downloads) and works on Windows, OS X, Linux, and Android.
"Everyone" wants to play Mario games if they are free.

Doesn't and will never play Wii U games.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Dingus, It can not play Wii U games, only read them. Not even to mention your machine has to be beefy to play them. Good luck with your 3000 dollar machine required to play Wii U games (and conversely PS3 and 360 games on emulation).

However things have stood out to me: Currently this is only useful for hackers who want to examine the update partition (I heard some exploit authors wanted binaries), or collectors who want to show off their list of games, or people who are curious what's on those discs, or people who want to work on emulating the Wii U.

IT DOES NOT PLAY WII U GAMES YET.

So you don't know what you are talking about. Again, doesn't and will never play Wii U games. It's in the same situation as anything else. Will likely carry it's own system requirements to play so that 500 dollar gaming PC wont cut it. You proably just found that via google. You likely don't even follow this scene at all.

Absolutely baseless rumor.

And lol at people inside Nintendo wanting to do smartphone games but Iwata preventing them. Completely stupid. Nintendo is a company where the developpers have the upper hand. And no developper would want to work on smartphones.

Looks like someone wants to keep the "Nintendo is going to go third party" mantra going.

So a bunch of cowards is scheming to take control over Nintendo. Sounds a lot like the VGC underground movement that wanted to usurp the mod team. Even if this rumor were true, nothing would happen. Cowards won't do anything.

Re your 2ndaragraph - that is a lot to assume based on an unconfirmed translation from 1 article in a Japanese newsper-  there may or may not be people involved with Nintendo pushing for change but if there is, we do not have nearly enough information to speak to thier character, what kind of changes they may want, what their priorities would be and or how effective they might be in accomplishing any of it-  we def do not heck enough I do to call them cowards and ineffectual ( if the situation exist in the 1st place)

I don't think Nintendo needing to make this decision is imminent anyway.

If Quality of Life fails and mobile continues to eat into their handheld profits ... then in 3-4 years, yes, perhaps Iwata will have to concede defeat here, but in that case I think they will do more than just make smartphone games. They probably will have to look into making games for Playstation home consoles at least as well. They'll probably continue to make game handhelds for a while though.

They still have a few more years to figure something out though. Lets see what happens.

This rumor has now been proven false:

The Rumor About Nintendo Management Wanting to get rid of Iwata is 100% False

There was a story that went up yesterday that said Nintendo management wanted to get rid of the firm’s president and CEO Satoru Iwata. An “inside source” cited “inner turmoil” caused by Nintendo not wanting to go mobile as the reason. They also said that Iwata doesn’t listen to them and their ideas. However, PE user Gryphonofmight has revealed that not only is that story 100% wrong, the source of the rumor saying Nintendo managers wanting to get Iwata fired came from NEOGAF. This 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, debunks that rumor. And from now on, I will never post stuff like that again. You can see here for yourself.

First, check the source of the article, it leaks back to a gaf post in the Nintendo Financials thread. One of the best examples of a GAF–>Internet–>GAF posts we’ll see.

Comments? First time I have heard of Yamauchi’s first son, anyone knows what he has been doing that makes him Nintendo president candidate?

Nothing, Katsuhito Yamauchi is a producer for the Pokemon movies. He has little to no business experience. He’ll be a figurehead at best for the Nintendo management to manipulate.

Gotta love NeoGAF…..

LOL, that doesn't make any sense, there wasn't even a NEOGaf thread about this until after the Business website posted their article.

The source is a Japanese business site. How credit they are, I don't know. But the source is not Neogaf. There's just no point in linking to a Japanese article that no one can read so they linked to a person on NeoGaf translating the source article.

A random poster named Gryphonofmight on a completely different board isn't a source for anything.

Well, if it's been proven false that's good enough for me.

This thread is redundant now, so locking.

Just ignore me. For now!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Not believing this, not after Iwata's approval rate was significantly higher than last year after the investors meeting a couple months ago.

Anyway, I don't care if they do it because I wouldn't buy anything anyway, but I think it could be a good idea to release the Virtual Console on mobile at least. Should bring in some money without damaging either of their hardwar/software lines.
