I do think its overrated but certainly not the MOST overrated game.

That's really not the point.. You understand that you can beat Sonic 1 in like an hour, right? Not being able to save adds tons of replay value to the game because of its level design. Sonic 3 just has saving for convenience but is still supposed to be trial & error.

Trial and error is not an acceptable bandaid for a lack of content in my view.

Yes, because at that time they REALLY could do much about cartridge limitations. That was sarcarstic, because they had tot split up Sonic 3 into Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckels because of time restrictions and cartridge costs. You do know they had to work with limited resources right?

Cartridge limitations didn't stop games like Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island offering tons of content.

I refused to even click on that video after just taking a glance at that meathead and the borderline-downie.

I will say this though (this is my legit opinion and I'm not trolling), Sonic Adventure 1 was the biggest bill of goods I've ever played. It was basically a 1-level tech demo camouflaging a half-assed clusterfuck, with no real direction or emphasis on what the hell you were supposed to be doing.

Luckily, getting a hold of pirated games on the Dreamcast was a no-brainer so, I wasn't really 'sold' anything...

nooope. i dont agree. it was fun in its own way. based strictly on the game itself and not kill it with fanboy ignorance, it was an excellent game for its time and it only got better on the genesis, kinda lost its way on dreamcast on though.

No, The Last Guardian and Half Life are.

I have had literally no fun at all with the Last Guardian, it has come nowhere near close to the quality I was promised what with it being vapourware and all

Definitely yes ! A bullshit game IMHO. Light years away from SMW.

The only level i quite enjoyed was the very first, for its beauty and atmosphere, the whole remaining of the game and the series is terrible IMHO.

I agree that SMW is much better than the original Sonic the Hedgehog, but bullshit game? How? :-/

Sonic is not over-rated, he's just horribly misrepresented. His recent games are confusing the hell out of people that Sega themselves don't know what to do with Sonic anymore; they are just plain lost.

I can't get technical here because I lack the knowledge to do so, but those games aren't the same as Sonic. If the devs say that they had to split up Sonic 3 into two games due to limitations, then there must be some kind of problem with the cartridge space. Once again I can't really get technical here so I don't exactly know what took up so much space for Sonic games but to me it seems clear that the games required quite a lot of space.

Besides, what's the point of talking about the actual length of the game? That doesn't have much to do with the level design.. Sonic's replay ability might as well be considered content by some.
