RUMOR - Nintendo of Canada employee implies that Rayman is a playable character in Smash Bros.

We posted this video earlier, but specially have a watch/listen to the 1:50 mark to hear Nintendo of Canada's Matt Ryan talking about Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS characters.


Well, that certainly makes it sound like Rayman is part of the playable roster, right? Is this a mistake by Ryan or a confirmation of what most have been thinking? Thanks to Lars for the heads up!

Nintendo Canada says their Rayman mention for Smash Bros. was in reference to the trophy

Looks like Nintendo is taking the stance that Rayman isn't playable in Smash Bros.. This statement comes from Nintendo of Canada referring to the recent Smash Bros. Wii U demo where a rep mentioned Rayman being in the game.

"In the recent interview in Canada about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Rayman was mentioned, and this was referring to the previously announced Rayman trophy in the game."

I wonder if this is a hangover from the original Rayman Legends exclusivity contract, or if it was a condition Nintendo imposed to let Ubi pull out so they at least get some useful selling point for Smash (don't really see how it needs one though)

Eh.. Rayman is nowhere to be found on my " Most wanted" list, but I would be OK with him being a playable character in Smash 4..

I hope not...

The Rayman games are very good, but the character design is terrible. And Ubisoft doesn't really deserve it after the Rayman Legends delay.

eh, i've never cared for Rayman, ever since i first tried it on the GBA. Just didn't gel with me. Wouldn't miss it if he was included, would feel it was kind of a wasted slot otherwise (check the sig above me)
