So is Atlanta the only team without a coach now?

Yep, and it looks like they are just waiting for dan quinn to end his season so they can hire him.  Basically all the coaching spots have been filled...

It's confirmed Patriots used deflated footballs during the AFC Championship game against the Colts...

"The New England Patriots had 11 of their 12 allotted game footballs under-inflated by 2 pounds of air (PSI) as required by NFL regulations, according to league sources either involved or familiar with the investigation of Sunday's AFC championship game when the Patriots beat the Colts 45-7 to advance to their sixth Super Bowl."

This is the exact reason why I can't stand the Patriots. They are always using some backhanded way or blatant cheating to win a game. Absolutely ridiculous that they keep getting away with things like this if you ask me... IMO some major action should be taken against them by the NFL.

1) Nothing actually linking the Patriots to it yet, so we'll have to wait and hear from the League investigation.  11 being underinflated is odd, for one, why 11?  There's 12 extras that they have for the game (total of 24 if I understand correctly), what're those measured at?  It all just seems weird.  I'll tell you this though, before Rodgers spoke about purposefully overinflating, I had cast this aside as just silliness.  Now, who knows, maybe league-wide it's an issue.  Still, the 2nd point is concerning also.

2) And almost as important as finding out how it happened.  How did the refs, who have these things under lock and key up until 2 hrs from kickoff, and then examine them 15 minutes from kickoff, and then had both Patriot and Colts scrimmage balls in their hands w/in the first what, 5 minutes of the game (since both teams went 3 and out on their opening drive) miss the difference?  It was in the low 40's, so the ball would've have been the rock hard you'd get in your typicaly NE game.  So, how is it possible they missed that?

And the only action that can be taken is $25K fine to the personel responsible.

1. The 12th one is for special teams.

2. The Patriots have a history of cheating.

They should lose draft picks at the most. Not like deflated balls had anything to do with the beatdown they gave Indy.

They'll probably get fined and maybe lose a draft pick if found guilty.

This is just shameful. Now, if it was an isolated incident....but Belichick has done similar stuff in the past.

Sadly, from what I heard, it's only a monetary fine, which is peanuts compared to the trip to the Superbowl.

Maybe this will prompt the league to change the rules and supply own balls, like they started doing so for kickers a while back, after they found out that the kicking balls were tampered with (by everyone).

Doesn't matter, there's already a set penalty for this infraction in the rules ($25K to the person responsible).  The league can't just arbitrarily up it, unless it wants to get shafted in the courts again (they have recent precedent fresh in mind).  Again, it also ignores the fact that Aaron Rodgers literally overinflates balls and makes the refs deflate them.  This is a ref issue, sorry, is it shady they were tampered with?  Yes.  Is it a Patriots only issue?  Clearly not, you have an active QB who does the exact opposite, and expects the refs to deal with it.

Beyond that, again, $25K is the most that can be assessed for this, and the NFL's gonna have to actually prove someone on the Patriots did it.  Kind of surprised there's no actual footage of it, given how many cameras were all over the place.

No, there are separate kicking balls altogether, when there was an odd game pause that night, they were changing out a kickoff ball for a scrimmage ball.  So, for scrimmage balls, there are 24 total, 12 regulars, 12 backups.  What's the pressure of the backups?

From what I understood, there are 24 balls, but no backups. It's that each team chooses 12 balls, and each team plays with their own balls on offense. I was watching Dean Blandino explain it all yesterday on NFL Network, and there were stories of what all is done to the balls between the checkup and gametime (team's ball boy keeps the balls in that 2 hour interval).

a) It's probably not the first time they've done it (remember everyone thought Spygate was a one time incident til Roger had to admit the Patriots were doing it since 2000)

b) Even if they would've beat the Colts without it (and probably would have), so what? Cheating is still cheating. That's not fair to the Colts, or even the entire NFL.
