Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hyrule Warriors: Why Does Nintendo Hate Online Play?

The game is made by Koei. It's even published by them in Japan.

But yeah this is totally Nintendo's fault.

When a large number of games on your system come out lacking the functionality, it is your fault.  Nintendo can go back to these companies and say "we want you to include online co-op" and even provide a little extra incentive if they need to.  They aren't doing so, as is evident by the lack of online options.

Yeah, Nintendo should pay developers to include functionality people seem to think should be standard. That makes perfect business sense! Next Nintendo should start "incentivizing" devs to include multiplayer modes, or single player modes. On top of the fact that they're already incentivizing devs by letting them use their IP or outright funding their games.

"In terms of the players involved from Nintendo, it’s mostly just me [Aonuma]. Nintendo’s role is actually more of an advisory role, so the development is completely up to Tecmo Koei."

Clearly this is all Nintendo's doing.

im a fool. i thought they were talking Zelda proper and was wondering what the big deal was about a heavily single player game...

then i realized it was Hyrule Warriors and said WTF. Come on, a game that is heavily steeped in multiplayer in 2014 and doesnt have online? this isnt some indie arcade game. come on. ugh. I was actually getting excited for it, truly. but i will wait till the price drops. If Smash doesnt blow my socks off i will truly have to wait till Zelda drops till i get the system.

Nintendo paid for the game - I assure you if they had wanted local and or online Co op it would have been in the game-   That is how business works

Nintendo paid for exclusivity. Have you even played the game? The story makes ZERO sense for co-op.

I have not played Hyrule Warriors or other Warriors game but from what I have read most of the recent Warriors games have online co op

We were talking about lego city...... don't interject yourself without knowing what gaming you are refering to....

The last Dynasty Warriors game has online as does the last Gundam DW. So i personally am going ot believe that its more of Ninty's doing, but wth it doesnt matter whose fault it is its a silly either way.

Lego City -  bought it day 1 for my Son-  played it in a 2nd save file along w him -  the game should have absolutely had local co op -  would have made a ton of sense -    So I strongly disagree -  co op both local and online would have made thAt game much better and it would have sold many more copies w co op

The game's story made no sense for co-op, nor will it ever.

Who gives a flip about the story when you are playing local co-op? People just like to be able to explore a setting, along with the gameplay with another person and sometimes do so when they aren't even in the same zip code... we have the technology, its a matter of will at this point.

It does have an online mode, just not co-op. I'm thinking something along the lines of a vs mode.

or maybe just some silly ranking thing ala Bleach Ressureccion. i dont buy it. if it is a vs. mode why stop there? especially since the others have?

Speaking of Bleach why did i buy that game? the epitome of mediocore

I must say while i find the lack of online Co-op Disappointing It is not enough so to detour my purchase.
