Forums - Sales Discussion - Bungie Giving away 3 Beta Keys with each Pre-order Was Brilliant

Brilliant move, and I think it speaks to their confidence in their game.

So for a simple anecdote.

I talked to a guy who works for me this morning and I knew he was a bit of gamer and he had Titanfall, so I asked him if he played the Destiny Beta.

He said, his nephew pre-ordered the game and gave him the other 2 beta keys (He and his son both have XB1s) he said he and his son (his son is 13 or so) were not to interested in the game, but played the beta since they were giving the keys. He loved it, and he said his son played it non-stop during the beta. He said they go to lvl 8, but then after that they were in the Crucible the rest of the time and LOVED the PvP.

Interesting note- He said he has always preferred military shooters and never played much Halo because it did not fit his taste, he said he felt it was a cross between CoD and Halo and it really felt good to him.

Well, now his son has pre-ordered the game, and he said he was going to shortly. I would not be suprised if this scenario did not play itself out many, many, times.

Not really since it was open to everyone. Anyways it was amazing IMO. I hope the full game does have huge lands to explore.

It was only open for the last 48 hours or so. But ya being opened would have actually deminished certain audiences from trying it. There is so "allure" to having a key to a beta that others dont have, makes you more inclined to try something your not interested in.

It happened with me. Sony sent me two beta codes ( I did not pre-order ) and I gave one to my uc3 multiplayer obssesed friend, now he is buying destiny :)

I think the fact that they made the beta open to EVERYONE even if it was only for 2 days was the best thing they did. That is how open betas should be, open for everyone to try and for them to test the stability of the game when people are given the free reigns to try their game.

From seeing the gameplay and not being a big fan of halo games I would have never even pre-ordered destiny, let alone buy the game. But since the Beta was open I decided to give the game a try with my friends and we absolutely loved it. I myself loved the competitive MP since it felt like a cross between Halo and COD to me as well. I'm hoping to buy Destiny when it comes out because of the open beta.

It's an excellent way to promote it to people that are on the fence. The beta almost pushed me over into buying the game, then I read about how big the game is, and I was completely underwhelmed.

I think that people who were thinking the game would be Skyrim type big are underwelmed, but from what they have said it sould like the world scale will be closer to something like fallout 3. Except online w/ coop and PvP...

I was expecting a massive game. They were talking about this like it was some massive game, and then I found out it's the size of any open world game.
