Changing PS4 HDD is a piece of cake. In Xbox One in which if you change HDD you void warranty. But in PS4 its easy and keeps the guarantee.

If I can plug one in why would I change it?

I didnt get it. Please elaborate. Thanks.

Your time has a montery value...with your example it doesn't take into account the associated costs. It  is not pure profit.

Look, let's just ASSUME that the person in my example was not at work so they were not being paid for their time, therefore there is no monetary loss in that regard.  Okay?  They were outside, thinking about what a boring day it was and how they wished someone with a cat would walk by.

I have no idea why you are arguing about this.  It doesn't even make sense so I'm just going to ignore it.

Just because you are not doing anything or it's your day off doesn't mean your montery value for your time is zero.

Anyone who has taken micro/macro economics would probably argue that their free time actually has a higher value since in this economy we are asked to produce more for less money.

Well, if I need to increase storage I can just plug a realtively cheap external 3TB HDD into the xbox one... will take about 1 second.

Not that I need to, I manage my storage and very fast internet.

Thats a good option. But to each his own. I cant imagine a HDD plugged in my system all the time. Its looks ugly. I prefer internal storage.

I prefer the cheapness, ease and portability.

To each his own.

Good for you.

Announcing this is basically Sony saying to MS: 'We're ready to match any price cuts.'

Exactly... last gen MS was in a great position to do this everytime Sony had a positive thing (i.e a slim and cut the cost)... MS just went, hold on their buddy, we have a price cut.. and bam, just as sony was going to gain momemtum it was gone again. Now the shoe is on the other foot, if MS start to gain ground, Sony can now think, lets cut the price (not that i expect them to this year though).

One big difference this time is the success of PS+... by actually following MS into this arena, they have a good stream of revenue coming in from that, and any two console owners, well they are potentially stealing money from MS where customers decide to only get PS+ instead of gold. The more customers Sony gets the more PS+ subs they get, etc etc.

So Sony can either cut the price of the console and make it back in PS+ subs, but if they are selling 3:1 over the XBO already this year WW, then why bother, they will be doing fine. Would expect some amazing deals on Blackfriday though.

Cut cost? Oh no they must have removed a feature/capability like what they did with the PS3 xD

I think that due to the success of the console thus far and the many years of overall losses their investors would rather them reap the benefits of some much needed profits rather than cut the price earlier than required.

That is not to say they will rest on their laurels, I am confident that if a price-cut is required then Sony will do this to maintain momentum!

If I were Sony I wouldn't change PS4 price until 2016.....PS4 is going to sell a lot even at 400$. They will profit better this way than selling a little bit more at 300$.

Yeah, Sony will only drop the price IF any MS price cuts starts having an effect. Their first approach will be to drive sales with great games bundles and PS+/PSNow (possibly). If any meaningful spike in sales for the XB1 lead to a sustained bigger average that threatens Sony's dominance, THEN Sony will drop the price.

Sony are in prime position to put the squeeze on Microsofts bottom line and so force Microsoft to anger investers. They haven't been in a better position since PS2.

The PS5 Exists.

I think the price will either drop before or during the holiday season (to get the user base bumped as much as possible)... or in the spring of 2015, maybe instead of a price cut, they'll do more 399 + "free" game bundles.
