Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One vs PS4: How Microsoft's Console is Getting Better and Better Than Sony's

The very fact that their is no counter article means that the PS4 doesn't need one. You have to be convinced of the opinion that the XB1 is better than the PS4.
Public opinion is that PS4 is better than XB1

but, but ouya is king..... when will you people understand that ouya is the most complete console of all time.

(I dont think there can be a counter update to the updates thing though, unless the writer talks about stability for the whole thing. And there is many articles stating the opposite of this one all over the internet.... so isnt that the same? you have to be convined, alot of people need reassurance for spending ~400. And going by this logic: ps4 needs it more than xbox.)

Frequent updates is already a double edged sword, it was critized to the death on the PS3.

As for your other claim, you need to back that up because I haven't seen any articles saying that the ps4's lack of updates is a good thing. In this case its public opinion that it is a neutral or bad thing, and this article is trying to convince us otherwise.

Frequent updates being only advantageous now that the XB1 is getting them, seems a bit hypocritical.

This is what the public thinks

sad sad times. when features and apps define the character of a console and not games.

no i meant, alot of articles saying ps4 is better. I honestly don't care what is better i just buy the consoles to play on them. But if we go by your logic that these articles are to convince people of their purchases then there are many more of them in favour of ps4 and hence the public needs to be convinced ps4 is better. Also the public finds microsofts updates great, the consoles are barebones, but xbox has more features (one can argue) and is adding more. Neogaf for example has 3-4  threads on them (with like a couple thousand posts), saying sony needs to catch up and get some basic feautres and what not and how xbox updates are really good.

As for the updates: doesnt matter to me, havent gotten a feature i wanted yet.

You do know that all of the updates are apart of Microsoft's strength right? Thats their bread and butter. OS and online/multimedia. Sony will always be playing catch up with them. If this is a win to you then when Sony brings out the games in their second and third year...I would love to see your face. When MS starts slipping with the new IP's it will be Sony excelling. Anyone who owns a Sony console and has owned them for a while should know the golden rule. The games are in the oven and the first two years are always the worst. After that watch the exclusives come out like wildfire.

^This guy gets it.

MS = software company(PC > Mac)

Sony = Hardware company

Either will have serious trouble competing with the other in their non-native capability

Problem with excessive console features as a selling point I'm yet to see any features I don't already have on my laptop so it's not the selling point it seems to be. I have the same problem with "smart TV". I'd rather have a "dumb" one for less money because my laptop is already almost permanently connected to my TV and is more powerful than any console or the TV itself.

TL:DR: GGames will always be most important selling point for consoles as all other features can be replicated elsewhere.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Eh, I don't really think so. MS screwed the pooch with an underpowered console and there's no changing that.

I will be getting a PS4 on Sept. 9th (Destiny bundle) along with NHL 15 and Last Of Us.

Credit to MS for making improvements, but it's still not enough to get me to choose it over the PS4. Need to have a real exclusive or a cheaper price point (why pay the same price for lesser hardware?).

To be fair Microsoft have been on their game recently. The monthly updates keep rolling out and I'd say they have the better first party lineup in 2014.

Ofcourse this is because they are being outsold by the competition in the first place. Microsoft wouldn't have switched to a games focus if it wasn't for the PS4 success.

I hope Microsoft win an NPD or two just to keep Sony on their toes.

In fact, Microsoft has paid careful attention to what its gamers want and has given them just that on many occasions. The company has rolled out eight solid updates till date, with each containing new features, including the ability to use external hard drives to manage game collection.

This was something gamers had been requesting for a long time and happens to be very useful considering console storage space is almost always way too low to store games.

Sony on the other hand has hardly added any features to the PS4 since its launch and has kept the vast majority of its updates minor.

This really should be on PS4, is there any particular reason why it isn't or can Sony just not be bothered to do it?

Or maybe the ability to upgrade your internal drive from day one negates that?

Not really, I already have an external harddrive and want to just use that, I don't want to waste money on a seperate internal one that I can only use on my PS4.  Its a pretty crappy option imo and I don't see why they don't offer external harddrive support.

It's good let's step up the competition.

I'm more excited about when we can see bigger features like PS Now functionality than snap or a new language I don't speak though.
